Action Event On Tap At PPMS

Racing action returns to Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway on Saturday, July 29, featuring an “Action Event” with all regular divisions in competition.  The Diehl Automotive Super Late Models will be in action, as the Precise Racing Products RUSH Late Models will compete in a Sizzler Series event for the second straight week.  Also in competition in weekly point racing will be the Sunoco Sportsman, Super6 Late Models, Miley Truck Rental Hobby Stocks, Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns, and CruiseAmerica Open Fours.  The Kids bike races that had been announced for Saturday have been moved to Saturday, September 30.

Monday’s Falconi’s Moon Township Automotive event saw NASCAR Icon Tony Stewart not only visit, but drive to victory in the entertaining 30 lap main event for the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions.  Stewart, who had popular open wheel star Rico Abreu in his pit for the event, raved about how much he enjoyed racing at PPMS.

The three top classes at the speedway all have big races scheduled as the calendar flips to August.  The Sunoco Sportsman class takes top billing on Saturday, August 5, as a part of an “Action Event” featuring the Wee Willie White Memorial, as the Homak Manufacturing Penn Ohio Pro Stock Series will be visiting.  All regular divisions will be in competition for Chartiers Valley School Race Night, as there will be point racing for the Diehl Automotive Super Late Models, Precise Racing Products RUSH Late Models, Super6 Late Models, Miley Truck Rental Hobby Stocks, Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns, and CruiseAmerica Open Fours.

The Precise Racing Products RUSH Late Models take top billing on Saturday, August 12, for their biggest race of the season.  The 28th Annual Jook George Steel City Classic will be run, as the Sweeney Chevrolet RUSH Dirt Late Model Series will be visiting.  Sharing the card for this special event will be the Diehl Automotive Super Late Models and Sunoco Sportsman.

The speedway will not be in action Saturday, August 19, but racing will return on August 26 for the running of the 11th Annual Red Miley Rumble.  It will be the third and final race for the Diehl Automotive Super Series which determines provisional starting positions for the season ending Pittsburgher 100.  There will be weekly point racing for the Precise Racing Products RUSH Late Models, Sunoco Sportsman, Super6 Late Models, Miley Truck Rental Hobby Stocks, Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns, and CruiseAmerica Open Fours.

Jon Hodgkiss took over the point lead in the Diehl Automotive Super Late Models, leading by 11 points over Matt Dobnak.  Daryl Charlier leads the Precise Racing Products RUSH Late Model standings by four points over Justin Lamb, as John Mollick leads the Sizzler standings by a single point over Lamb.  Dave McManus leads the Sunoco Sportsman by 18 points over A.J. Poljak.  Karlee Kovacs leads Stephen Shelpman by a single point in the Miley Truck Rental Hobby Stocks.  The Imperial Heights Garage Young Gun leader is Ben Anton, by three over Kayla McManus.  Matt Rubright leads Tom Anton by 12 in the CruiseAmerica Open Fours.

The 2017 fuels incentive continues to race on at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway.  Sponsored by Brian Bazell of Bazell Race Fuels, the fuel incentive program is open to each week to any race team in the RUSH Late Models and Sunoco Sportsman division.  To be entered, teams must purchase at least five gallons of fuel at the track to be eligible, plus carry a Sunoco decal.  The highest finishing car that is entered and eligible will earn five gallons of the fuel that they purchased.  Winners for last Saturday’s racing program were John Mollick in the RUSH Late Models and Kole Holden in the RUSH Modifieds.
