Colussy Chevrolet Night Next At PPMS

Racing returns to Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway on Saturday, September 16 with Colussy Chevrolet Night.  Members of AAA will be guests of the speedway, as members will receive discounted general admission.  The Econo Mod division will be visiting for the running of the Inaugural “Econo Mod Classic.”  The CarSmile Wiper Blades “Thunder on the Dirt” Vintage Racing Series will be also be visiting.  The Precise Racing Products RUSH Late Models will be in competition, for the running of their final Sizzler Series event, paying $1000 to the winner.  There will be point racing for the Super6 Late Models, Miley Truck Rental Hobby Stocks, Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns, and CruiseAmerica Open Fours.

The Econo Mod division is similar to the former E-Mod class that used to compete at the track, however, this class runs engines that are powered by two barrel carburetors.  They compete weekly at Sharon, Raceway 7, and Eriez, as the track rules for those speedways will be used for the event.  In addition, certain cars that run with AMRA will be allowed, specifically those powered by 602 crate engines.  The 20 lap event will have lap money paid to each lap leader, and will pay $1000 to the winner, thanks to the many sponsors that have been collected by event organizers Josh Christopher and Brian Huchko.  Sponsors of the event include Stush’s Personal Auto Care, Schwartzmiller Ground Maintenance, Taylor Auto Body, D&T Auto Body, Flinner Sign and Decals, Twin State Auto Racing Club, Chess Motorsports, 2JR/FGR Racing, Huchko Motorsports, Two Three Motorsports, Johnny’s Landscaping, and Hoosier Tire.  There will also be a $100 award for the Hard Charger, who advances the most positions from start to finish.  Teams are asked to arrive early, so that they can go through tech inspection.

While many surrounding tracks have completed their racing season, PPMS has four weekends of racing remaining.  The Saturday, September 23 program will feature “Open Wheel Mania” for the Alternative Power Sources Outlaw 305 Sprints, and the RUSH Modifieds competing in “Modisaures X.”  There will be weekly point racing for the Precise Racing Products RUSH Late Models, Sunoco Sportsman, Miley Truck Rental Hobby Stocks, Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns, and CruiseAmerica Open Fours.

Saturday, September 30 will be the final point race for 2017, featuring the “Tune-Up 20” for Diehl Automotive Super Late Models, in their final point race in preparation for the Pittsburgher 100.  The RUSH Modifieds will make their final visit of the season, and there will be Kids Bike Races.  Point racing will conclude for the season for the Precise Racing Products RUSH Late Models, Sunoco Sportsman, Super6 Late Models, Miley Truck Rental Hobby Stocks, Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns, and CruiseAmerica Open Fours.

The 2017 racing season will conclude with the running of the 29th Annual Pittsburgher 100.  Qualifying events will take place on Friday, October 6, with features running on Saturday, October 7.  Highlighting the action will be the 100 lap, $20,000 to win, Pittsburgher 100 featuring the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.  Joining the program will be the 30 lap Bill Hendren Memorial for the Sweeney Chevrolet RUSH Dirt Late Model Marquee Series, and the Cruise America PENNational for the Homak Manufacturing Penn/Ohio Pro Stock Series.

The 2017 fuels incentive continues to race on at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway.  Sponsored by Brian Bazell of Bazell Race Fuels, the fuel incentive program is open to each week to any race team in the RUSH Late Models and Sunoco Sportsman division.  To be entered, teams must purchase at least five gallons of fuel at the track to be eligible, plus carry a Sunoco decal.  The highest finishing car that is entered and eligible will earn five gallons of the fuel that they purchased on each race night.

For all racing programs, the gates open at 5:00 PM, with warm-ups at 6:00 PM and racing at 7:00 PM.  Follow us on Facebook at @PAMotorSpeedway or on Twitter at @PAMotorSpeedway for timely information updates.  The Twitter account is used extensively on race nights for live updates.  Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway is located west of the city of Pittsburgh, just south of the Noblestown exit of U.S. Route 22, or 170 Kelso Road in Imperial, PA, for GPS purposes.  The track phone is 412-279-RACE.  For complete information including ticket pricing information, please visit the track website at www.ppms.com .
