The weather couldn’t have been more perfect for the Marsha Schempp - Kyle Stramaski Memorial at PPMS on Saturday night. The event was headlined by the PA Thunder On The Dirt Vintage Modifieds and the Rohrich RUSH Late Models + the PPMS Penn Ohio Pro Stocks would have increased purses. PPMS would see eight heat races, and seven feature events, including a makeup feature for the Cheplic Packing Hobby Stocks from the rainout on 9.3.22. Wally Stock (74) + Ryan Maglione (555) were the winners for the PA Thunder On The Dirt Vintage Modifieds. Ben Policz (14B), from Rices Landing, would pick up another win for the Rohrich RUSH Late Models, while Logan Koteles (64), from Stockdale, would not only win the regular feature for the Cheplic Packing Hobby Stocks, but he would also win the makeup feature. AJ Poljak (36), from Baldwin, would pick up another win for the PPMS Penn Ohio Pro Stocks, while Noah Bubeck (2), from Colliers, West Virginia, won the Crawford Auto Repair Four Cylinder Feature, and Abby Gindlesperger (05), from Jefferson Hills, picked up win number three on the season for the All Ways Safe Young Guns.

The PA Thunder On The Dirt Vintage Modifieds would start seven cars for their 15-lap feature event and had Wally Stock (74) starting on the pole. Starting to his outside was Fred Hildenbrand (A). The second row consisted of William Stile (8+8) starting P3 and Steve Longo (20) starting P4. When their green flag waved, F. Hildenbrand (A) would pull away with the early lead. Lap two had F. Hildenbrand (A) still leading, Stock (74) in second, Longo (20) in third, and Stile (8+8) in fourth. Stock (74) would start to pressure F. Hildenbrand (A) for the lead on lap five but F. Hildenbrand (A) would fend him off and keep his lead for now. Stock (74) would stay on the low side of the track while F. Hildenbrand (A) was running the outside groove. On lap nine, Stock (74) would finally take over the lead. With two laps remaining in the event, the caution would come out for a car that had trouble in turn three. Stock (74) would choose the inside on the restart and when green replaced yellow, he would keep his lead over the field. Stock (74) would lead the remaining two laps in the event to pick up the win. Ryan Maglione (555) would pick up the other win.

18 Rohrich RUSH Late Models were signed in on Saturday night and in their 30-lap feature, Ben Policz (14B) would start on the pole. Daryl Charlier (00K), from Midway, would line up to the outside starting second. Dan Lepro (2L), from Midway, would start third, Kyle Lukon (184), from Burgettstown, would start fourth, Cole Petrelle (84), from Follansbee, West Virginia, would start fifth, and Mike Reft (9R), from Pittsburgh, would round out the top three starting rows. At the start of the event, track officials would call a “no start” so the field would give it another try. This time, the start was good but they didn’t complete the first lap before the caution was out for the 15H of Bryan Hoffman, from Imperial, and the 15X of Joe Squatriglia, from Pittsburgh. Hoffman (15H) spun out and Squatriglia (15X) had nowhere to go and plowed into him. Both drivers were okay, but the cars not so much. Once the mess was cleaned up, the rest of the field would line up for a complete restart. When the green flag dropped, Policz (14B) would pull away with the early lead with Charlier (00K) settling in behind him in second. With Policz (14B) still leading, Lukon (184) would take over second, knocking Charlier (00K) down to third on lap three. The front-runners would enter lapped traffic on lap seven with Policz (14B) leading the charge. Another caution would slow the pace on lap 12 for a car that had trouble in turn four. Policz (14B) would choose the outside on the restart and when green replaced yellow, Policz (14B) would retain his lead over the field. At the halfway point, Policz (14B) was still leading, Lukon (184) was in second, Charlier (00K) was in third, Brandon Burgoon (5X) was in fourth, and Lepro (2L) was in fifth. Burgoon (5X) would take third away from Charlier (00K) on lap 17 as Policz (14B) continued to lead the event. Lap 19 saw another caution for a car that stopped on the backstretch with an unknown issue. Policz (14B) would again choose the outside on the restart with Lukon (184) on his inside. When the green flag waved, track officials were not happy with the start. So, it was called back and a complete restart would ensue. On the second attempt at green, there was success and Policz (14B) would once again keep his lead over the field. The front runners would enter lapped traffic on lap 27 but another caution would again slow the pace on lap 28 when Steve Pyeritz (38) spun out between turns three and four. The event would come down to a two-lap shootout with Policz (14B) taking the outside again but this time he had Burgoon (5X) to his inside. When the green flag waved for the final time in the event, Policz (14B) would again retain his lead over the field. Policz (14B) would lead the final two laps of the event en route to another PPMS Rohrich RUSH Late Model win. He was followed to the line by Burgoon (5X) in second, Lukon (184) in third, Reft (9R) in fourth, and Charlier (00K) rounding out the top five. The heat race winners were Kyle Lukon (184) and Ben Policz (14B). Brandon Burgoon (5X) was the hard charger gaining five spots as he started P7 and finished P2.

Next on the card was the PPMS Penn Ohio Pro Stock 15-lap feature and division points leader, AJ Poljak would start on the pole. Starting to his inside was Nick Kocuba (10), from Burgettstown. The second row was made up of Brett McDonald (25), from Saxonburg, and Heath Close (77H), from Shaler. When the green flag dropped at the start of the event, Poljak (36) would take the early lead and Kocuba (10) would follow him into second. Lap three had Poljak (36) still leading and McDonald (25) would take over second which knocked Kocuba (10) down to third. The top five on lap five had Poljak (36) still leading, McDonald (25) in second, Kocuba (10) in third, Tony Magill (5M) in fourth, and Close (77H) in fifth. This top five would remain the same for the remainder of the event which went green to checkers in record fashion with Poljak (36) picking up another PPMS Penn Ohio Pro Stock win. The heat race winner was Nick Kocuba (10).

The Cheplic Packing Hobby Stock regular 15-lap feature was up next with Logan Koteles (64K) starting on the pole. To his inside and starting second was his brother, Jonathan Koteles (2K). The second row had the dad, Gary Koteles (65K) starting third and Leroy Brown (74) starting fourth. When the green flag waved, the field wouldn’t complete a lap before the caution was out for a car that spun out in turn two. A complete restart would ensue, and this time, L. Koteles (64K) would take off with the early lead. The caution was out again on lap two when the 74 of Leroy Brown spun out in turn two. L. Koteles (64) would choose the outside on the restart with J. Koteles (2K) to his inside. When green replaced yellow, L. Koteles (64) would keep his lead over the field. By lap nine, L. Koteles (64K) was on a rail as he had a half of a track lead over the field. He would lead the final laps of the event, en route to another Cheplic Packing Hobby Stock win. He was followed to the line by J. Koteles (2K) in second, G. Koteles (65K) in third, T. Magill (5M) in fourth, and Garrett O’Patchen (25) would round out the top five. The heat race winner was Gary Koteles (65K).

In the Cheplic Packing Hobby Stock Makeup 15-lap feature, Frank Magill (05) would start on the pole. Starting to his outside in second was L. Koteles (64K). The second row had J. Koteles (2K) starting third, and Tony Magill (05) starting fourth. At the start of the event, F. Magill (05) would take the early lead and L. Koteles (64K) would settle in behind him in second place. L. Koteles (64K) would try to take over the lead several times through the first few laps of the event but F. Magill (05) kept slamming the door on him. On lap four, and with F. Magill (05) still leading, L. Koteles (64K), F. Magill (05), and J. Koteles (2K) would go three-wide into turn three but F. Magill (05) would again keep his lead over the field by lap six. L. Koteles (64K) was determined though as he stayed to the low side of the track and on lap eight, L. Koteles (64K) would take over the lead. L. Koteles (64) would lead the remaining seven laps of the event en route to another Cheplic Packing Hobby Stock win. He was followed by G. Koteles (65K) in second, F. Magill (05) in third, J. Koteles (2K) in fourth, and Garrett O’Patchen (25) would round out the top five. The heat race winners on 9.3.22 were Gary Koteles (65K) and Matt Benard (15).

The Crawford Auto Repair Four Cylinder eight-lap feature was up next and Travis Corbin (2R) was the pole-sitter. Kyle Janas (88) would start to his outside in second. The second row consisted of Noah Bubeck (2) starting third, and John Gill (19G) starting fourth. When the green flag waved, Bubeck (2) would come from his P3 starting spot to take the early lead. Lap two had Bubeck (2) still leading, Corbin (2R) in second, and Janas (88) in third. The top three would stay the same for the entire event, with Bubeck (2) picking up the win. Corbin (2R) finished second, Janas (88) third, Gill (19G) fourth, and Joe Campbell (40C) rounded out the top five. The heat race winner was Noah Bubeck (2).

Last but not least was the All Ways Safe Young Guns eight-lap feature that had Sadie Snatchko (56), from Oakdale, starting on the pole. To her outside and starting in second was Abby Gindlesperger (05). Zoey Knight (78Z), from Plum, began the second row starting in third, and division points leader, Emmerson Laboon (114), from Elizabeth, would start in fourth. When the green flag waved, Snatchko (56) would take the early lead, but it was short-lived as Gindlesperger (05) would have the lead at the line. Lap three had Gindlesperger (05) still leading the field, Knight (78Z) in second, and Laboon (114) in third. The event’s lone caution would come on lap five as a car had trouble on the backstretch. Gindlesperger (05) would choose the outside on the restart with Knight (78Z) to her inside. When green replaced yellow, Gindlesperger (05) would keep her lead over the field with three laps remaining in the event. Laboon (114) would take second away from Knight (78Z) but it wasn’t enough as Gindlesperger (05) would go the distance and pick up her third win of the season. She was followed by Laboon (114) in second, Knight (78Z) in third, Snatchko (56) in fourth, and Gavin Kokolis (91) completed the top five. The heat race winner was Emmerson Laboon (114).
