Five Features, First-Time Winners, and Flat-Out Fury at Dirt’s Monster Half Mile - Full Write Up Results

Pittsburgh came alive Saturday night as Dirt’s Monster Half Mile dropped the green on a five-division slugfest. Seven heat races fired off early, setting up five features, including a makeup from last week that still had scores to settle.

Daryl Charlier (42), the “Midway Missile,” blasted to his first Rohrich Automotive/Chevrolet Performance RUSH Late Model win of the season. The crowd roared as he pulled away and shut the door on the field.

AJ Poljak (36) kept his foot buried and his win streak alive, locking in his sixth Pittsburgh Truck Center Penn Ohio Pro Stock victory of the year.

Tom Anton’s (64) machine delivered a storybook moment. The Jefferson Hills native grabbed his first-ever Auto House Hobby Stock win in the 12-lap make up feature.

Stephen Shelpman (17P) followed that up by doing what he does best. The Pleasant Hills driver added another trophy to the shelf in the regular Hobby Stock feature.

And in the final charge of the night, Cameron Hollister (44) sealed the deal in the Crawford Auto Repair Open Four Cylinders. The McDonald racer parked the 44 in victory lane and closed the show with authority.

Ten Rohrich Automotive/Chevrolet Performance RUSH Late Models rolled into the pits Saturday night. They split into two heat races, with the top three from each heading to the redraw.

Daryl Charlier (42) drew the pole for the 20-lap feature. Defending champ Kassidy Kamicker (72B) lined up second on the outside.

Row two stacked Tom Klein (77) in third and Zach Gunn (17G) in fourth. When the green flew, Klein (77) jumped out front with Charlier (42) slotting into second and Kamicker (72B) holding third.

By lap four, Brandon Burgoon (5X) slid into third. Klein (77) held the lead, Charlier (42) stayed close.

Klein (77) started pulling away early, but Charlier (42) began closing fast by halfway. On lap 15, he struck.

Charlier (42) took the lead and never looked back. He led the final five laps and parked it for his first win of the season.

Burgoon (5X) finished second. Klein (77) held on for third, followed by Kamicker (72B) in fourth and Z. Gunn (17G) in fifth.

Heat races went to Z. Gunn (17G) and Burgoon (5X).

The 15-lap Pittsburgh Truck Center Penn Ohio Pro Stock feature rolled off with Nick Kocuba (10) from Burgettstown on the pole. AJ Poljak (36) started on his outside, Dale Tuche (310) lined up third, and Jason Fosnaught (25) started fourth.

Poljak jumped to the lead at the drop of the green. Kocuba settled into second with Tuche holding third.

A caution on lap five slowed the pace when a car had trouble between turns three and four. Poljak chose the outside for the restart with Kocuba inside, and he kept the lead when green returned.

Kocuba chased from second while Fosnaught moved into third. Poljak started stretching his advantage as the laps clicked down.

Poljak crossed the line first for his sixth win of the season and second in a row. Kocuba finished second, Fosnaught took third, Tuche came home fourth, and Ricky Steigerwald (00) rounded out the top five.

Poljak also grabbed the heat race victory.

Tom Anton (64) started on the pole in the 12-lap Auto House Hobby Stock make up feature. Kyle Janas (88) lined up to his outside.

Leroy Brown (40B) and Marc Corio (14) made up row two. Anton took the early lead and never gave it up.

By lap three, Brown moved into second and Corio held third. Anton stayed smooth up front and kept clicking off laps.

The race ran green to checkers with no interruptions. Anton parked it for his first career Auto House Hobby Stock win.

Brown finished second, Corio third, Danny Rich (221K) took fourth, and Cole Cochran (72) came home fifth.

Anton also won the heat race back on July 26.

Cole Cochran (72) started on the pole with Garrett O’Patchen (25) to his outside. Leroy Brown (40B) and Danny Rich (221K) filled out row two.

O’Patchen grabbed the early lead on lap one. But at the start of lap two, something went wrong and he fell off the pace.

A caution froze the field before lap two was completed. That handed O’Patchen the lead back for the restart, with Stephen Shelpman (17P) lined up beside him.

When the green flew, Shelpman took command.

Another caution slowed things on lap seven when Sadie Snatchko (56) caught a flat and couldn’t reach the pits.

Shelpman chose the outside for the restart, Brown lined up low. Shelpman jumped out front again and never let it go.

He led the final eight laps and bagged another Auto House Hobby Stock win. Brown finished second, Anton took third, Chloie Jones (76) grabbed fourth, and Kyle Janas (88) rounded out the top five.

Heat race wins went to Brown and Shelpman.

The 12-lap Crawford Auto Repair Open Four Cylinder feature closed out the night. Mike Kelley (6) started on the pole with Cameron Hollister (44) on the outside.

Row two lined up Tyler Hollister (69) and Anthony Uddstrom (18).

Kelley jumped out front at the start and led lap one.

Cameron Hollister took over the lead on lap two. His brother Tyler moved into second while Uddstrom held third.

Cameron stayed locked in up front as the race went green to checkers without a hitch. He led the final 10 laps and secured the win.

Tyler Hollister finished second, Uddstrom came home third. Curtis Mohney (33M) took fourth and David Seibert Jr (777) finished fifth.

Cameron and Tyler Hollister each picked up heat race wins.
