Thompson Opens Season in California After Adding Two New Sponsors

Inside Line Promotions – MARYSVILLE, Calif. (June 1, 2020) – The 2020 sprint car season has started later than usual for Oregon native Tyler Thompson, who is coming off a career-best season.

The COVID-19 situation has stymied racing in the Northwest, forcing Thompson to travel approximately eight hours each way for his season opener on May 23 at Marysville Raceway Park.

“It was good to get the car and motor shook down,” he said. “The track was different than I’m used to; it had a different shape. That took me a while to learn. We got better by the end of the night. We’ll definitely go back there.”

Thompson placed seventh in a heat race before ending the night 10th in the B Main.

The race marked the first of multiple bigger trips this season for Thompson, who plans a mix of 360ci winged sprint car and limited sprint car starts this year.

“We’re a growing team and want to travel more as our budget and time allows,” he said. “We have everything prepared well. The car program and motor program are good. We’ve also added a pair of new partners that we’re excited about joining us.”

Dorman Construction Inc. and 3C Custom Commercial Concrete have come onboard. Thompson also returns nearly all of his sponsors from last year when he won a career-best seven races as well as the 360 track championship at his home track of Cottage Grove Speedway in Cottage Grove, Ore.

“We’re grateful for everyone who supports this team and we’re looking forward to testing ourselves throughout this year,” Thompson said. “We are aiming to be ambitious in 2020.”
