Peterson and Howell Take Their 1st Big O Victories of the Season.
Ogilvie, MN (May 22) – It was a hot and humid night at Wagamon’s Ogilvie Raceway and the Splash Zone entertained the kids and adults during intermission. The driver’s pushed the show through quickly and efficiently and Parker Anderson, Shane Howell, Shane Sabraski, Tyler Peterson, Robert Holtquist and Justin Schelitzche went home with wins.
Cole Neisius snagged the immediate lead when the WISSOTA Street Stocks took the green flag. Kyle Howland and Thomas O’Brien battled for second as Howland claimed the point. Parker Anderson worked his way to third, moved past Howland and began to chase Neisius for the lead. Anderson and Neisius ran door to door for a moment, and Anderson slid into the lead. As Anderson stretched his lead, a caution occurred. Anderson brought the drivers back to green and drove away. Howland ran second, but Hunter Anderson dove to his side. Howland entered the infield with a flat tire and Hunter began to chase after Parker. Parker Anderson had a solid lead and took the first checkers of the night. Hunter Anderson, Russell Kostreba, Cole Neisius and Justin Pogones rounded out the top five.
The WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds had a couple cautions to start the race, however the drivers put on a fabulous race. Kyle Kirberger sped off with the lead, but Chad Fouquette moved to his outside. Kirberger and Fouquette raced door to door for the lead with Zach Benson and Brady Uotinen to their bumpers. Fouquette nosed ahead and Uotinen worked Kirberger for second. Uotinen and Kirberger moved to Fouquette’s side and they ran three wide for the lead. Fouquette held off the competition but Uotinen dove low and made the pass just as the yellow waved. Fouquette retook the lead on the restart while Uotinen, Kirberger and Shane Howell went three wide for second. Howell, who started the race in 11th, moved ahead and snuck by Fouquette as the white flag waved. Howell led the final lap and snagged the win. Chad Fouquette finished in second with Brady Uotinen, Kyle Kirberger and Zach Benson grabbing top points.
Kurt Becken and Matthew Dibb led the WISSOTA Super Stocks to the line and Becken took the lead. Ryan Kostreba, Andy Grymala and Matthew Dibb raced three wide for second and after a short battle, Kostreba claimed the point. Shane Sabraski moved to the inside of Grymala’s #24 to take third. Kostreba was riding the bumper of Becken as Sabraski closed in. A quick caution slowed the drivers but as the race resumed, Becken, Sabraski, and Kostreba went three wide into turn one. Sabraski emerged from the curve as the leader and went on to take the win. Remaining top points went to Ryan Kostreba, Kurt Becken, Andy Grymala and Dexton Koch.
Chris Mensen and Tyler Peterson brought the WISSOTA Modifieds out for their feature and after a quick caution, Peterson snagged the lead. After a couple laps, the top drivers spaced out, however others remained three and four wide as they battled for positions. Peterson had a significant lead established as the yellow lights flickered on. Peterson brought the drivers back to green but Clayton Wagamon shot pass Peterson for the top point. As Peterson and Wagamon drove out of turn four, Peterson reclaimed the lead. Peterson was a straight-away ahead of his competition as Dave Cain and Wagamon raced parallel for second. With only two laps to go, one more caution occurred. The drivers were realigned and took the green with Peterson, Cain and Wagamon as the top drivers. Cain kept close to Peterson as Wagamon, Shane Sabraski and Jeremy Nelson (4) entered the turn three wide. Peterson led every lap of the feature event and took the checkers with Dave Cain, Clayton Wagamon, Jeremy Nelson (4) and Shane Sabraski as top finishers.
The WISSOTA Mod Fours took the track and Dean Larson grabbed the early lead. Robert Holtquist snuck by Larson’s silver bullet and never looked back. Robert Holtquist, Dean Larson, Tommy Pogones, David Slovick and Garrett Masurka settled into the top five points and set their cruise controls. Holtquist led a majority of the race and took the checkers for this third time this season.
Jamie Ammerman and John Aderman brought the WISSOTA Hornets around the Big O for the final race of the night. As the green waved, drivers were three and four wide on the race surface. Aderman moved into the top point as Ammerman and Justin Schelitzche kept side by side for second. The top drivers settled into points while Schelitzche challenged Aderman for the lead. Schelitzche made the pass with slower traffic in sight. Aderman kept close to Schelitzche while they wove between cars, but Schelitzche held the lead and took his second feature win of the season. John Aderman, Jamie Ammerman, Joseph Wilber and Jesse Turnvall wrapped up the top points.
Next weekend, Wagamon’s Ogilvie Raceway will welcome the 16th Annual Wehrs Machine Minnesota Mod Nationals driven by Boston Trucking. The event will feature back-to-back nights of race action on Saturday and Sunday featuring the WISSOTA Modifieds, Midwest Modifieds, Super Stocks and Hornets. Racing will begin at 7pm each night, you don’t want to miss this event!
