Battling the Highs & Lows at Winter Heat in Arizona

When the opportunity arose to return to Arizona for the Winter Heat Series, Craig Dollansky was eager for the chance especially to join a legendary West Coast team, the Tri-C Machine #3 sprinter owned by Clyde and Marion Lamar.

“Jonathan Allard, their primary driver, is a good friend of mine and currently racing in New Zealand so it gave me a chance to join up with their team,” commented Dollansky. “It was good to get in the car and back to racing. Clyde and Marion have a great team and I enjoyed racing with them.”

Having success last year in the inaugural season of the five-race series, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ battled tough track conditions the first night but continued to make progress with crew chief Randy VanKeuren before posting their best feature finish on the third night finishing 6th.

“We had ups and downs but didn’t get the results we wanted. Considering the competition and jumping in their car for the first time I thought there were definitely some bright spots and positives to take away from the trip.”

With cars traveling to Yuma, Arizona from all over the country for the unique event that continues to grow, the competition is tough with 40+ sprinters signed in each night as teams get an early jump on 2016.

“It’s a great event they have created down there and hopefully something that continues to grow,” commented Dollansky. “Winter Heat has become quite successful in a short amount of time. There aren’t many events we can run in January so it’s nice to have that in the United States and be a part of it.”

The Elk River, Minnesota native is now back in the frigid ‘Land of 10,000 Lakes’ as he continues to prepare for the 2016 season with TKS Motorsports.
