Sheffield Starting Micro Sprint Season With Five Races in Florida

Inside Line Promotions – HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. (Jan. 27, 2021) – Connor Sheffield is venturing south next week to kick off a busy nine-day stretch.

Sheffield, who is embarking upon his first full season behind the wheel of a 600cc micro sprint, will tackle a Florida Speedweek featuring five races. The action begins at Marion County Speedway in Ocala with a practice night on Feb. 5 followed by races on Feb. 6, Feb. 7 and Feb. 9. Racing shifts to Hendry County Motorsports Park in Clewiston on Feb. 12-13.

“Because we’re considering ourselves a rookie our goal is to make the A Main and anything above that is a bonus,” Sheffield said. “We’re grateful that we can do this and that our health is good to get the green light to go. We want to get as much seat time as possible.”

Sheffield made a handful of starts in a 600cc micro sprint last year after competing primarily in the 270cc division in 2019 and part of 2020. Although the action in Florida presents a new opportunity as well as his first trip to both tracks, Sheffield will have a built-in comfort zone as his team is putting veteran racer Pat Bealer in a second car.

“We’re taking two cars and he will race for us as well as help coach and mentor,” Sheffield said. “He has multiple track championships and is a veteran driver. He’ll help work all the kinks out of a new car as well as give advice. We’re all really looking forward to getting down there and going racing.”

Sheffield estimated he will race 30 to 40 times on dirt this season along with a 10-race schedule in a pavement late model. The late model season begins at the beginning of March.
