Klay, Lewis, and O’Connor grab feature wins, Sherman, and Mueller crowned champions at Limaland

Perfect weather greeted teams and fans on Friday night for the final points event of the season at Limaland Motorsports Park. No. 17J Jarrod Klay grabbed his first Lock Sixteen Thunderstock feature win, No. 34X Shane O’ Connor picked up the Northwest Physical Therapy DIRTcar UMP Modified victory, and No. 41 Ricky Lewis bagged the Non-Wing Sprint Car A Main. No. 65 Todd Sherman wrapped up the championship in the Modifieds, and No. 4m Gabe Mueller sealed up the Thunderstock championship.

Kicking off racing action were the Lock Sixteen Thunderstocks in their 15 lap A Main. Jarrod Klay and No. J1 Jeff Matheny made up the front row for the 15-lap feature. Klay and Matheny would battle throughout the first half of the feature before mechanical woes would force Matheny to retire from the event. Lots of beating and banging behind the leader kept things interesting, but in the end, it was Klay holding off No. 25 Nick Bowers for the win, No. 72 Wayne Gibson would finish 3rd, No 74D Craig Dippman 4th, and No 22T Tony Anderson 5th. No. 4m Gabe Mueller would finish in the 6th position and is the 2022, Lock Sixteen Thunderstock/Advance Auto Parts NASCAR Weekly Series Track Champion.

Next up were the Non-Wing Sprint Cars for their 25-lap feature event. No. 21B Ryan Barr and No. 41 Ricky Lewis would bring the field to the initial green flag, with Barr grabbing the early lead. Lewis would get the Dave Stensland owned No. 41 wound up and head to the front on lap 2. No. 20 Tayte Williamson would close on the leaders early, moving to 3rd on lap 5 and to 2nd on lap 7, but that would be as close as he would get as Lewis would win the A Main over Williamson, No 9N Luke Hall would charge to 3rd with No. 53 Steve Little finishing 4th, and No 87 Paul Dues completing the Top 5.

Wrapping up racing action were the Northwest Physical Therapy DIRTcar UMP Modifieds in their 20-lap feature event. No. 36 Brandon Vaughan and No. 34X Shane O’Connor would make up the front row with O’Connor taking the early lead. Vaughan would stalk O’Connor throughout the race, trying to grab his 2nd victory in a row, but mechanical issues would arise on Vaughan’s No 36 on the final lap, relegating him to a 15th place finish. O’Connor would grab the victory over No. 16 Jeff Koz, No. 65 Todd Sherman, No 95J Jerry Bowersock, and No 9PG Percy Gendreau. Sherman’s 3rd place finish sealed the 9th Northwest Physical Therapy/Advance Auto Parts NASCAR Weekly Series track championship of his career.
