Klay wins makeup Thunderstock feature. TMez wows Non Wing with last lap pass, O’Connor shakes Modified woes, and power outage stops Keysor Memorial

Summertime heat greeted the fans as the gates opened at Limaland Motorsports Park on Friday as Homeland Technology Group presented the 21st Annual Keysor Memorial. The Lock Sixteen Thunderstocks readied for the annual event honoring one of the longtime supporting families at Limaland. Double features for the Thunderstocks were on tap as the night started with No 17J Jarrod Klay grabbing the makeup feature from May 19th. The Great Lakes Traditional Sprints feature was won by San Jose, California’s “T Mez” Thomas Meseraull, aboard the Simon Racing No. 23K. The Midwest Shooting Center DIRTcar UMP Modified feature was won by No. 34x Shane O’Connor, and the Keysor Memorial feature was halted on lap 2 as a traffic accident caused the loss of power to the track.

The makeup feature from May 19th for the Lock Sixteen Thunderstocks kicked off the racing action with No 7W Dan Wooten and No 17J Jarrod Klay bringing the field to green. Klay would take the early race lead while the 2022 Keysor Memorial winner No. J1 Jeff Matheny would battle with No 27 Frank Paladino and No 87 Andy Welch for 2nd. Matheny would clear the 2 and stalk Klay throughout the event, smacking the wall at one point but continuing to finish 2nd to Klay. Paladino would finish 3rd, Wooten would hang on to 4th, and Welch would complete the top 5.

The Great Lakes Traditional Sprints would kick off A Main action following preliminary events. The 25 lap A Main saw the 24 of Lee Underwood and No 2DI Dustin Ingle bring the field to green. Ingle would lead the early laps before No 23K Thomas Meseraull would sneak by following a lap 5 caution. No, 41 Ricky Lewis would throw a slide job on TMez on lap 11, Meseraull would cross over and battle back but Lewis would take the point on lap 12. On lap 20, Meseraullbegan to reel in the leader by running the highside of the track in turns 3 and 4 and the bottom of turns 1 and 2. As the leaders took the white flag, lapped traffic would come into play and Meseraull would once again head to the top of turns 3 and 4, Lewis would slide up the track, allowing TMez to cross over and grab the win by half a car length at the finish line. Lewis was second, Underwood would finish third, Ingle fourth, and No 16 Jackson Slone 5th.

Next up would be the Midwest Shooting Center DIRTcar UMP Modifieds. No 34x Shane O’Connor and No. 22T Tony Anderson would lead the field to green, O’ Connor would lead green to checkered, never being seriously challenged thru multiple cautions. Anderson would survive multiple challenges from No 9C Troy Cattarene to finish second, Cattarene was third, No. 5X Jerry bowersock was fourth and No 16 Jeff Koz completed the top 5.

The Advance Machine Solutions Dirt Track Truck Series would hit the track next for their 15 lap feature. No 499 Dustin Cover, and No 2 Dusty Ratliff would lead the field to green but it was No 10 Rolly Heyder who would take off with the lead and never look back, winning over No 9R Justin Rapp, No 9PG Percy Gendreau, No 29C Chris Bitters and No 1S Mike Sawmiller.

The Lock Sixteen Thunderstocks brought the final event on the track with the 15 lap Keysor Memorial A Main. No 22T Tony Anderson, and No. 11 Sean Verwys would lead the field to green, completing 1 lap before the track lights went out due to an auto accident taking out a main transformer near the race facility. Safety crews checked on all drivers and all were ok. With no timetable for the power to come back up. The decision was made by track officials to call the remainder of the event, with the Keysor Memorial feature to made up at a later date.

Next Friday night June 9th is the 3rd Annual Ron Kahle Jr Memorial p[resented by Steve and Heather Lowe. The NRA Sprint Invaders will race to honor the memory of one of the biggest supportyers of local sprint car racing in the late Ron Kahle Jr. Pit Gates open at 4:30PM, Grandstand gates open at 5PM, Hot laps/qualifying at 6:30PM, and racing at 7:30PM.
