Woodling wins 2nd straight in Mods, Jedrzejek races to win in Allison Tribute, and Sherman tops the Thunderstocks at Limaland

Limaland Motorsports Park opened the gates Friday to celebrate Independence Day weekend with Firecracker Friday and Tribute to “Mr. Excitement” Tim Allison presented by T&D Interiors.

With a great crowd on hand, Kasey Jedrzejek piloted the Ed Neumeister owned 11N to his first ever Limaland victory in Great Lakes Super Sprints competition. Warsaw, Indiana’s Dylan Woodling took the win for the second straight week in DIRTcar UMP Modified feature action, and Todd Sherman added to his career win total by grabbing the Lock Sixteen Thunderstock victory on Friday night.

The DIRTcar UMP Modifieds were first in feature action, with No. 3W Dylan Woodling and No. 9R Garrett Rons making up the front row. Woodling would take the lead briefly, but No. 16 Jeff Koz would charge from the fifth starting spot to the lead on lap 1. Woodling would battle back to the lead on lap 2, with Koz hot on Woodling’s tail until clipping an infield tire and coming to a stop on lap 5, bringing out the caution. No. 5 Curt Spalding would battle his way to second on lap 7 but Rons was able to battle back to the runner up spot. Woodling would survive three more cautions to sail to victory over Rons. Spalding would finish third, with No. 5X Jerry Bowersock fourth, and No. 18 Brendan Rassel would pick up his first top five in Modified competition, completing the top 5.

Next up were the Great Lakes Super Sprints Ohio CAT Sprint Car Division with their 25 lap feature honoring the memory of “Mr. Excitement” Tim Allison. No. 85 Dustin Daggett and No. 66 Chase Dunham would bring the field to green, with Daggett taking the early race lead. Dunham would close in on lap seven as the leaders approached lapped traffic then would use a well timed slide job in turns 3 and 4 on lap 8 to take the lead. Caution would wave on lap 11 for No. 88N Frank Neill slowing to a stop on the front stretch, and at the same time, Dunham hopped the cushion in turn 2 and slid to a stop on the race track, and being forced to the tail. Jedrzejek would power to the race lead on lap 12 and only be slowed for one more caution before sailing to the feature win over Daggett, No. 17 Jared Horstman, No. 23 Devon Dobie, and No. 7c Phil Gressman.

Competing the evening were the Lock Sixteen Thunderstocks with their 15 lap A Main. No. 27 Frank Paladino and No. 22T Tony Anderson would make up the front row, and would battle the first two laps before Anderson would grab the point. On Lap 3, No. 7C Jordan Conover would charge to the lead on the high side of the racetrack before Anderson would battle back to the lead, Conover and No. 99V Shawn Valenti would fight for the second spot until the caution flag flew on lap 6 for No. 74D Craig Dippman spinning in turn one. During the caution, Conover pulled off the track with mechanical woes, handing the second position to Valenti. On the restart, No. 60 Todd Sherman fought his way past Valenti for second, then three laps later powered around the outside of Anderson to grab the lead and roll to victory. Anderson would finish second, Valenti third, Paladino fourth and No. 26 Justin Long would complete the top five.

Limaland Motorsports Park will be closed next Friday July 12th, but will roar back to action on Friday July 19th with the GLSS Ohio CAT Sprint Car Division make up date for the Run For The Rabbit, honoring the memory of Travis “The Rabbit” Miller. The DIRTcar UMP Modifieds and Lock Sixteen Thunderstocks will also be in action. It will also be the second of two Meet the Drivers nights in 2024, presented by the University of Northwestern Ohio.
