IMCA Lone Star Stock Car Tour
2020 Sniper Speed Lone Star IMCA Stock Car Tour Announced
“Everything is Bigger in Texas” That was the quote from tour co-founder Jon Courchaine. Jon and wife Jill own and operate Sniper Speed Chassis in Gillett, Wisconsin and had been racing the winter’s in the Southern United States while the snow was piling up in the dairy and cheese land. It was on a road trip home that they knew there was an interest for an IMCA Stock Car tour, but where?
After spending time talking about this idea, the rumors started spreading that a tour was in the works for somewhere in the south. This had “I Stock”, as they call them in Texas, drivers starting to show an interest. “We had calls and messages from drivers asking to start this in Texas” Stated Jill. It was when sponsors and promoters showed a great interest that the tour started happening.
Two tours later, the 2020 Sniper Speed Lone Star IMCA Stock Car Tour looks to be the biggest yet. With a full schedule starting with the Ice Breaker February 15th at the Abilene Speedway in Abilene, Texas and ending February 22nd at Kennedale Speedway Park in Kennedale, Texas. Each night will pay $1,000.00 to Win and $100.00 to start the 21-car field, with the Tour Champion pocketing $5,000.00. Every night will see the A Feature having 1 provisional starting position.
A unique way "the A" Feature Provisional will be determined is an auction. Drivers, fans and crews bid for the drivers they want to see in the 21st spot, highest bidder wins. Monies raised from the driver’s auctions will be donated to local charities in the racetracks community. This year the IMCA Modifieds will join the IMCA Stock Cars every night for $1,000.00 to Win and $100.00 to Start.
