McDowell finishes fourth with Spring Nationals at 411 Motor Speedway
With Friday’s opener at North Georgia Speedway (Chatsworth, Ga.) falling to Mother Nature, Shane McDowell Racing returned to action on Saturday afternoon with the Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals at 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tenn.) for the inaugural The Tennessean.
After topping the 41-car field in time trials with a 15.105-second lap, McDowell outran Jimmy Owens in his heat race to pick up the eight-lap victory. Unable to fend off hometown standout Cory Hedgecock in the feature, Dale led laps 1-38 before relinquishing the lead to eventual race-winner Hedgecock. He went onto place fourth in the 71-lapper, chasing Hedgecock, Ricky Weiss, and Jensen Ford to the checkers with Brandon Overton coming in fifth.
