Dirt Duels at The Flat Track was Wicked Awesome
Loudon NH - On Friday night July 15th The JRC Transportation Sprint Cars of New England rolled into The Flat Track at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on the tracks biggest weekend of the year. There were nineteen sprint cars in the pit area ready to race in The Dirt Duels Presented by New England Race Fuels. With practice under way for three groups of cars drivers were feeling out the tracks surface and put the right set up in the race cars. The FK Rod Ends Heat Race #1 was won by Johnny Scarbrough , the O'Reilly Auto Parts Heat Race #2 was won by rookie Kadyn Berry, and the High Performance Lubricants Heat Race #3 was won by Chris Donnelly. With a huge crowd on hand and many seeing the series for the first time, the was a buzz in the air about the 30 lap feature and what they would see. After the invert the field was set with Jordan Fornwalt and Luke Greenwood making up the front row. Fornwalt got the jump from the pole and would lead the field around the new 1/4 mile surface. On lap three Greenwood got into Chris Donnelly and caused a flat left rear tire on the 17. After pitting for a new tire Donnelly would come out and rejoin the race at the tail end. Fornwalt again leaped out front on the restart and would get a rather large lead on the field as the rest battled for position. It was the 23 of Travis Billington working his way up to second with his sights on Fornwalt. The red flag would come out when the 07 of Matt Hoyt got crossed up and went over in turn four. Hoyt was able to get out of the car and ok. On the final restart Fornwalt again would gain the lead and never look back as the 24 sat in Sunoco Victory Lane. Billington would finish second followed by Greenwood and then Matt Tanner , and Clay Dow. The finishing order can be seen on the results page on the website.
