OCTOBER 31 “SPECIAL EVENT” AT PERRIS; ARIZONA #10 FOR JOHNSON AT QUEEN CREEK
The USAC Southwest Sprint Car series concludes November 14-16 at Canyon Speedway Park in Peoria, Ariz. but not before a “special event” October 31 opening the “Budweiser Oval Nationals” at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway.
Point leader R.J. Johnson of Phoenix, Ariz. scored his 10th Arizona USAC victory on 2013 Saturday night at Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek. Driving the Bill Michaels Kodiak Products/Beal’s Auto Body Sherman/Ford, Johnson passed Josh Pelkey on lap 18 and led the final eight laps to beat Pelkey, Charles Davis Jr., Mike Bonneau and Andy Reinbold.
Davis led the first 10 laps, Pelkey led the next seven and Johnson led the rest.
Johnson will take a 57-point lead over Davis into the three-night series finales at Peoria.
