Cerro Gordo Icebreaker
Well we finally got to kick off the 2017 season at Cerro Gordo Speedway on April 21 after numerous rainouts have prevented us from getting to do any racing. With the help of our newest supporter, Big Time Racing Inc and Sonny Ross we made the trip over. After struggling to find the right combination in hotlaps and the heat which we went from 6th to 3rd in, we made some big swings for what we thought would be the 2nd heat race. At 12am they made the decision to scratch the 2nd round of heats and go straight into features. This was kind of a disappointment as we would have started p1 for the 2nd heat. We lined up p9 for the feature and the big changes were definitely in the right direction. The track was completely junk from the time the night started being hard dry and dusty all night. On the 2nd start for the feature I missed the prep line in turn 1 and joined the large group of guys throughout the night that had spun in turn 1. when I restarted 24 and realized visibility was even worse than it was from 9th I pulled off and decided the risk was not worth taking and save my equipment for another race. Thanks to all of my sponsors and supporters and expecially BTRInc and Sonny for the help getting to the race and serving as the crew for the night.
