Ross Bailes cruises to Ultimate checkers at Cherokee
Ross Bailes made his lone start of the Memorial Day weekend on Sunday afternoon at Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, S.C.) for the Ultimate Southeast Series-sanctioned Mike Butler Memorial. (Zack Kloosterman photos)
With his second-fastest qualifying effort placing him on the front row for the feature, Bailes stole the lead from Trent Ivey on the drop of the green flag and raced his third win of the season and 11th career Ultimate SE triumph. He pocketed the $7,500 payday ahead of Zack Mitchell, Ivey, Dennis Franklin, and Brent Dixon.
