Johnny Scott notches fifth-place finish in Duel in the Desert finale

On Friday evening, both Johnny and Stormy Scott were entered at Las Vegas Motor Speedway (Las Vegas, Nev.) to compete in the two-day Duel in the Desert. In a field of 32 cars, Stormy scored a runner-up finish in his heat while Johnny trailed him across the line in third. With $10,000 on the line in the preliminary feature, Stormy was an early retiree on the 23rd circuit while Johnny improved six spots to finish sixth. (Michael Boggs Photography)

With Stormy scratching from competition on Saturday, Johnny clocked in ninth-fastest in his group before placing third in his heat. Starting the $50,000-to-win A-Main in ninth, Scott gained four spots in the 77-lapper to register a fifth-place finish. He followed Bobby Pierce, Josh Richards, Ricky Thornton Jr., and Billy Moyer across the line.
