Shayne Bailey and Conrad Kaufman Earn 2nd Wins of 2019 at US 36 Raceway

OSBORN, Mo. – During a night that saw Jay Russell pick up the ASCS Warrior Region checkered flag and Jake Martens take home the Sprint Series of Nebraska win, the IMCA Modifieds and Pure Stocks started off the night with their features at US 36 Raceway.

After Connor Masoner dominated the first half of the season, the start of the second half has seen the rest of the field close the gap. On June 28, Conrad Kaufman picked up his first win of 2019. One week later, Kaufman showed everyone what confidence can do as he made his second trip to Westfall GMC Victory Lane. CJ Turner had a fast race car and worked his way to a second-place finish after starting deep in the field. The Pure Stocks saw over half the field fail to finish in an attrition filled event. That didn’t keep the field from racing hard as Conrad Kaufman, Turner, Chester Kaufman and Lee Kenney ran nose to tail most of the race. At the end, Conrad Kaufman and Turner opened up a small gap. Chester Kaufman had troubles and dropped out, while Kenney finished third. Blaine Yonts ran a smooth race to finish fourth. Chester Kaufman rounded out the top five.

The IMCA Modifieds ran their 20-lap feature event solely under green conditions. Shayne Bailey got out to the early lead with . In the early laps, Michael Dotson, who ran second, kept pace with Bailey, matching his lap times. As laps clicked off the scoreboard, Bailey found another gear and drove away from the field. Bailey worked through lapped traffic well, and when the checkered flew, he crossed the finish line more than seven seconds in front of Dotson, who finished second. Jaylen Wettengel put in some of the fastest laps of the race around the halfway point, as he charged from a ninth place starting position. With no cautions, he ran out of time to chase down both Dotson and Bailey. Wettengel finished third in his first appearance at US 36 this season. Current US 36 points leader Chad Clancy finished fourth and Tyler Hibner finished fifth.

Up next for US 36 Raceway is a visit from the Iowa Sprint Car League. The IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Sport Mods, Pure Stocks and E-Modifieds are also on the card. The pits open at 5 p.m. and the grandstands open at 6 p.m. Hot laps are at 7:30 p.m. and racing starts at 8 p.m.
