Trenca Heading to Ohsweken to Prepare for Canadian Sprint Car Nationals

Inside Line Promotions – MANSFIELD, Ohio (Aug. 15, 2017) – Joe Trenca will venture to Ohsweken Speedway in Ohsweken, Ontario, Canada, this Friday in an effort to prepare for the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals, which is held Sept. 15-16 at the high-banked oval.

“We’re bringing a different car that we’ve been building for about a month,” he said. “We want to see if it will do any better. We’re going there to test for the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals.”

The Mucci Motorsports driver finished a career-best seventh during his most recent 360ci winged sprint car start at the track.

Trenca is coming off a challenging debut at Mansfield Motor Speedway last weekend during the Great Lakes Dirt Nationals. Friday’s opening round rained out and Trenca kicked off Saturday’s finale by qualifying sixth quickest in his group. He then finished where he started – sixth – in a heat race.

“We missed the heat race inversion in time trials by just a bit, which was crucial,” he said. “It was hard to pass because the track was so fast. We had decent speed, but just couldn’t move forward.”

That relegated Trenca to a B Main, in which he finished 11th.

“I think if we would have had the first night we would have been better,” he said. “We’ll learn from what we did. We hope to make it back there next year. It’s a top-notch facility.”
