Mike Benedum Begins Dirt Million at Mansfield

On Thursday night Mike Benedum followed the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series to Mansfield Motor Speedway (Mansfield, Ohio) returning behind the wheel of the Eric Hudkins-owned No. 8 Super Late Model for the second annual Dirt Million. Grabbing the 6th and final transfer spot in his heat race, Benedum earned the 18th-starting position for the $10,000-to-win preliminary feature. Holding his spot for all 30-laps, Mike posted an 18th place outing.

Returning on Friday afternoon for another round of preliminary features, Benedum recorded a 6th place finish in his heat which positioned him 18th on the starting grid for the A-Main. With $10,000 on the line, Mike gained four spots reeling in a 14th place finish. (Heath Lawson photo)

Starting in 5th in his heat race on Saturday afternoon, Mike dropped one spot logging a 6th place finish. Needing a 2nd place finish or better in his B-Main to make the $101,626-to-win Dirt Million, Benedum fell short with an 8th place finish.
