County Board Rules in Favor of MCS
The Catawba County Board of adjustments has ruled in favor of Mountain Creek Speedway Tuesday night, which will allow the track to host racing divisions for the 2024 season. This decision comes as a huge relief to track owners and promoters Adam and Rebecca Stewart as Mountain Creek Speedway will continue hosting events.
On Tuesday, Catawba County Board of Adjustments ruled unanimously in favor of Mountain Creek Speedway keeping its grandfather status since it was founded prior to the zoning ordinance which was adopted in 2007. “The county’s decision was being made off very very weak evidence assuming we were shut down when we were not.” Said track owner and promoter Adam Stewart.” I’m so glad to see it overturned and that the appeal process worked like it should.”
Some of the next orders of business will be planning the 2023 championship banquet and releasing a 2024 schedule. “We’ll see what dates we can have to kind of work around everyone else with other race tracks and try to keep things going so everybody can have a good place to race at Mountain Creek Speedway.” Said Stewart. “We’re getting ready to go. Obviously we are way behind on planning the season. We didn’t really want to make assumptions as far as getting everything out there so it’ll be a bit rushed.”
