Inside Line Promotions – OKTAHA, Okla. (Aug. 3, 2021) – Alex Hill capped four nights of racing by tying her career-best finish with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour last Saturday at Outlaw Motor Speedway. Hill topped off a solid night at the track with a fourth-place run in the night’s main event.

“We had a good night,” she said. “We had a great heat race (fifth to second) to put us on the pole for the feature. It took me a little while to get the track figured out in the feature. I fell back to about fifth before I got better with the track about halfway through the race and came back to pass a car to finish fourth.”

Hill’s first night of four consecutive nights of racing didn’t go as well last Wednesday at Caney Valley Speedway in Caney, Kan.

“We just didn’t have a good night at Caney Valley,” she said. “We started at the back of the heat race and it was hammer-down. It was tough to pass. Then in the B Main I was running in a transfer spot (third) when a guy in front of me biked. I had to lift because of him and biked, too. My car flipped and that ended our night.”

The Hill’s Racing Team driver fared better the following night at 81 Speedway in Park City, Kan.

“We finished second in the heat race and started ninth in the feature,” she said. “We missed the setup a little bit in the feature. We dropped back a few spots and finished 13th.”

Friday’s action at The New Tulsa Speedway in Tulsa, Okla., started out promising before uncontrollable circumstances ended Hill’s night.

“We led start to finish to win our heat race and then started sixth in the feature,” she said. “We were still running in sixth and were just starting to get racy when a guy ahead of us spun out. I had nowhere to go and hit him. We were able to continue, but the track was tough and there were a lot of restarts so I eventually pulled in.”

That led into the ASCS Sprint Week finale on Saturday at Outlaw Motor Speedway, where Hill’s strong performance in a heat race and the feature gives her momentum heading into a big week. She will compete with the ASCS National Tour on Tuesday at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., before moving on to the 31st annual My Place Hotels 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank this Friday and Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa.

“I love Knoxville,” she said. “It’s one of my favorite tracks. I wish we could’ve raced there more this year. We only raced there once and our night ended early when we got caught up in a crash in our heat race, so we didn’t get many laps. But we’ve been showing more speed lately so that makes me feel good going into our biggest race of the year.”
