The BullRing
Working Toward a Big Year…
Perry, NY (February 1, 2022): Happy New Year race fans! 2022 has already been full of awesome excitement leading up to the upcoming season at ‘The Bullring’. With an abundance of new programs and projects at hand, we will try to give everyone a brief burst of information, and then follow up with more detailed releases as progress continues.
First, and currently under construction is a new storage building at the top of the main pit area. The idea of the project is to continue building garage space for race teams looking to store racecars from week to week, as well as through the off-season. The first building has four bays but will most likely be used for TTI or WCIS equipment more immediately. The second building is set to be constructed at the top of the pits, directly off the second pit road along the woods and would be able to rent out to teams as the construction is finished up. Let us know if you have interest in these units as they become available.
Next is the 2021 awards, 2022 Spring registration event. Traditionally, this event is scheduled around March, and looks to be no different this year. The date and location are still yet to be determined, and more info will be found on our website and social media outlets. Keep in mind that new teams are also invited to participate in this event.
Speaking of new teams, those who are new to the sport and looking for basic info, or a well-seasoned veteran of racings past capable of clarifying questions about the rules and procedures, please don’t hesitate to call me directly at (585) 245-2123 (ask for Jim). Don Vogler (Race Director), Pat Wiesmore (Technical Inspector), Greg Hurlburt (Infield /Safety Director), and I will have rule clarifications available shortly.
As we progress out of Winter and into Spring, we are looking for teams interested in publicity for your team and would like to have you provide us pictures of your build progress or a background profile, we would like to get it online for fans to read and admire.
The Spring Syracuse Motorsports Expo is back on the docket March 12-13, and the Bullring Promotions Group is planning on attending the event to meet and greet teams and fans. Teams are encouraged to participate with us to make this display the best! Get the cars shined up, prepare some ‘Hero Cards’ to pass out, and do so quickly as it is only a couple months away.
In 2022, we are stepping up our program into the digital age, or at least to this decade, and we have some big goals on tap regarding this season’s development. Beginning last season with the installation of the Packman Family Score Board, we began the process of giving the fans and racers a more interactive approach to our SST Super Short Track Racing. The score board can also receive transponder info from competitors, and boldly listing them in racing order. So, this season ‘The Bullring’ will be instituting a transponder system into our weekly competition, which will create fast, accurate scoring, as well as line-up benefits which will be key components to making this system worthwhile. Stand by for confirmation of which unit to invest in, as we are leaning towards MyLaps at this point.
This is where it gets exciting… After a great December weekend at the PRI (Performance Racing Industry) show in Indianapolis, we found that programs can be developed to merge MyRacePass and Racing America (formerly Speed51) for a true racing experience. This includes LIVE Streaming of weekly SST action at ‘The Bullring’ racing events, along with the ability to track current positions, lap times, sponsors, driver profiles, and more instantly. This is well beyond what we at the Perry, NY motorsports facility thought we could provide. Teams will be able to register in advance, prior to entering the pit gates, and track there points almost instantaneously as the system uploads the daily results to a new interactive website, which we should see launched at the beginning of March.
The new Bullring Marketing and Promotions team believes this is a great opportunity for building sponsor/team recognition. Think of the benefits for short track racing to receive big time exposure. Think of family and friends having the ability to watch you race, from anywhere around the country, and beyond! The vision has endless possibilities, and this new program for ‘The Bullring’ in 2022 is just the beginning. It won’t be long before the Opening Day SST Modified 100 arrives on Saturday, May 14th, and with a lot to do, I’ll simply say “let’s get back at it!”
