US 13 Dragway
RAIN HITS BEFORE FINALS – JAY BRADFORD SERIOUSLY INJURED
Delmar, DE (4/1/12) – Rain hit the U.S 13 Dragway just before the finals in Super Pro, Pro, Pro Bike and Street Eliminator bringing and end to Sunday’s Summit Racing Series Points program. Taking final round wins before the rain were Havey Powell of Salisbury, Md. in Bike Trophy, Herby Sullivan of Ridgely, Md. in Jr. Dragster 2 and Brittany Hooper of Hurlock, Md. in Jr. Dragster 1. In Super Pro eliminations, last week’s winner, Jay Bradford of Newark, Md., lost control of his ’94 Lumina just past the finish line resulting in a violent crash. Bradford was airlifted to Christiana Hospital and his condition was unknown at the time of this writing.
Splitting the money for the Super Pro final were Josh Eastburn of Wilmington, Del. and Rex Lilley of Laurel, Del. Eastburn had defeated Doug Doll, Jr. of Akron, Pa. in the Semi-finals to advance and Lilley had won over Phillip Truitt of Parsonsburg.
In Pro it was Ryan Groton of Salisbury, Md. splitting the cash with Glenn Groton of Salisbury. Ryan had won over Andy Davenport of Seaford, Del. in the Semi-finals and Glenn had taken the win over John Parks of Denton, Md.
The two remaining riders in Pro Bike were Anthony Buckson of Smyrna, Del. and James Farmer of Denton. Buckson had defeated Sherman Thomas of Parksley, Va. in the Semi-finals while Farmer had a bye.
The two finalists in Street Eliminator were Josh Davis of Seaford and John Elias of Delmar.
Harvey Powell rode his Kawasaki Quad to the win in Bike Trophy over Irvin Bonneville of Laurel, Del. on a GSXR 600. Powell had the better reaction with a .024 and ran a 16.119/71.89 on a 15.90 dial for the win. Bonneville ran a quick 9.981/138.67 on a 9.80 dial.
In the Jr. Dragster 1 final it was Brittany Hooper taking advantage of a red light foul by Tyler Powell to win the final. Hooper ran a 9.000/72.20 on an 8.98 dial-in for the win. In Jr. Dragster 2 it was Herby Sullivan benefiting from a red light by Paul Riddle, Jr. of Millsboro, Del. Sullivan ran a 7.947/81.75 on a 7.95 for the win.
This Wednesday night, April 4th will be a Tune & Test session. Gates open at 5 p.m. with Tune & Test from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday will be another Summit E.T. Racing Series points event with gates opening at 10 a.m., time runs at 11 a.m. and eliminations at 2:30 p.m.
