HOOPER & REYNOLDS TAKE BAD 8 WINS, HOOPER ALSO WINS SUPER AT U.S. 13

By Charlie Brown, Delmar, DE (4/15/12) – The Bad 8 in Open Wheel and Full Body took to the quarter-mile U.S. 13 Dragway for the first time this season on Sunday. Coming out on top was Mike Hooper of Hurlock, Md. in Full Body and Chris Reynolds of Bear, Del. in Open Wheel. Hooper continued his banner day winning the Super Pro final. Glen Isom of New Castle, Del. ended Roger Ridgeway, Jr.’s streak by beating him in the Pro final and Anthony Buckson of Smyrna, Del. rode to the win in Pro Bike. Other winners on the day included: Frank Parks of Denton, Md. in Street Eliminator; Harvey Powell of Salisbury in Bike Trophy; Tyler Powell of Delmar, Md. in Jr. Dragster 1 and Shelby Bireley of Salisbury, Md. in Jr. Dragster 2.

Mike Hooper squared off with Steven Truitt in the Bad 8 Full Body final. Hooper had the better reaction and drove to the win with a 8.817/148.41 on an 8.79 dial. Truitt ran an 8.670/156.19 on an 8.64 dial. In the Bad 8 Open Wheel final it was Chris Reynolds taking on Dennis Long of Chesapeake, Md. Reynolds took the victory with a 7.128/183.15 on a 7.11 dial. Long ran a 7.530/178.07 on a 7.50 dial. Low E.T. and Top Speed in qualifying were set by Don Teague of Newark, Del. with a 7.833/174.58 driving his ’67 Chevy II. In Open Wheel Low E.T. and Top Speed were set by Reynolds with a 7.084/190.88.

Hooper advanced through the Super Pro eliminations to face W.R. Ketterman of Salisbury in the final. It was a close run with Hooper taking the win with an 8.754/163.60 on an 8.74 dial. Ketterman ran a 7.439/176.09 on a 7.40 dial. Semi-finalist was Mark Cathell of Seaford, Del. who lost to Hooper.

Glen Isom faced Roger Ridgeway, Jr. in the Pro final. Isom had the better reaction and took the win with a 10.237/127.35 on a 10.21 dial. Ridgeway ran a 10.387/129.75 on a 10.37 dial. Semi-finalist was Jim Williams of Seaford who lost to Ridgeway, Jr.

Anthony Buckson rode up against Eddie Savage, Jr. of Wallops Island, Va. In the Pro Bike final. Savage had a red light foul and Buckson made a full past at 9.666/132.82 for the win. Semi-finalist was Howard Reid of Painter, Va. Who lost to Buckson.

Frank Parks defeated Wayne Phippin in the Street final. Phippin broke out with a 12.089/109.01 on a 12.10 dial while Parks ran a 12.331/105.50 on a 12.31 dial for the win. Harvey Powell extended his win streak in Bike Trophy by defeating Michael Ross of Salisbury. Powell took the double break-out win with a 15.943/72.32 on a 16.05 dial. Ross had a 14.924/73.93 on a 15.05 dial.

In Jr. Dragster 1 it was Tyler Powell paired with Anthony Pavone in the final round. Powell took the double break-out win with an 8.897/73.06 on an 8.90 dial. Pavone ran an 8.883/73.33 on an 8.90 dial. Shelby Bireley met Jacob Bowie of Greensboro, Md. in the Jr. Dragster 2 final. Bowie had a red light foul and Bireley ran a 7.916/82.05 on a 7.90 dial for the win.

This Sunday will be another Summit E.T. Racing Series event with gates opening at 10 a.m., time runs at 11 a.m. and eliminations at approximately 2:30 p.m.
