FRANK LECATES TAKES SUPER PRO POINTS OPENER AT U.S. 13

By Charlie Brown, Delmar, DE (4/6/14) - Former Super Pro Champion, Frank Lecates of Salisbury, Md. got his season off to a great start on Sunday capturing the final on the first day of the Summit Racing E.T. Point Series. Chad Thurman of Vienna, Md. captured the Pro final and Jimmie Miller of Annapolis, Md. rode to the win in an exciting Pro Bike final. Other winners on the day included: Mike Adkins of Delmar, Md. in Street Eliminator; Wayne Phippin of Delmar, Del. in Hot Rod; James Paylor of North East, Md. in Jr Dragster 1 and Katelyn Muir of Salisbury in Jr. Dragster 2.

 

The Super Pro final matched a pair of dragsters driven by Frank Lecates and Dennis Long of Chesapeake City, Md. Lecates was quickest off the starting line with a .014 reaction and took the double breakout win with a 7.817/164.80 on a 7.82 dial. Long was out by more witha 7.643/171.03 on a 7.66 dial. Semi-finalists were Fuzzy Isdell of Belle Haven, Va. who lost to Lecates and Gregg Platter of Westminister, Md. who lost to Long.

 

The Pro final paired Chard Thurmon and Mark Cathell of Seaford, Del. Cathell had a red light foul and Thurman took the win with a 9.993/133.21 on a 10.00 dial. Semi-finalist was Tim Foskey, Jr. of Rhodesdale, Md. who lost to Cathell while Thurman had the bye.

 

It was a pair of 150 mph motorcycles in the Pro Bike final ridden by Jimmie Miller and Marquise Blake of Frankford, Del. Blake broke out running an 8.968/151.46 on an 8.98 dial and Miller took the win with a 9.494/151.59 on a 9.48 dial. Semi-finalists were Marlon Smith of Lincoln, Del. who lost to Blake and James Farmer of Denton, Md. who lost to Miller.

 

Mike Adkins defeated Sara Davis of Laurel, Del. to win in Street Eliminator. Davis broke out with a 12.825/98.34 on a 12.83 dial and Adkins took the win with a 15.120/91.02 on a 15.05 dial. In Hot Rod it was Wayne Phippin over William Ebert of Dover, Del. Ebert had a red light foul and Phippin ran an 11.639/113.70 on an 11.62 for the win.

 

James Paylor met Brittany Hooper of Hurlock, Md. in the Jr Dragster 1 final. Hooper left too early and fouled and Paylor got the win with a 9.058/69.08 on an 8.99 dial. In Jr. Dragster 2 it was Katelyn Muir taking on Jacob Bowie of Greensboro, Md. Bowie left early and fouled and Muir got the win with an 8.036/82.37 on a 7.98 dial.

 

This Wednesday night will be Tune & Test. Gates open at 5 p.m. with testing from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday April 13 the Bad 8 will be part of the Summit E.T. Racing Series program. Gates open at 10 a.m. with qualifying at 11 a.m. and eliminations at 2:30 p.m.
