By Charlie Brown, Delmar, DE (4/13/14) – The Bad 8 racers were in town Sunday at the U.S. 13 Dragway and taking away wins were Billy Groton of Seaford, Del. in the Bad 8 Full Body and Bobby Insley of Salisbury, Md. in the Bad 8 Open Wheel. Ben Parks of Salisbury drove away with the win in Super Pro while Daryl Beauchamp of Princess Anne, Md. took the final in Pro. Other winners on the day included: Marquise Blake in Pro Bike; Darin Doyle of Eden, Md. in Street Eliminator; Shawn Riley of Cambridge, Md. in Hot Rod; Nicholas Bowie of Greensboro, Md. in Jr. Dragster 1 and Cortney Cathell of Laurel, Del. in Jr. Dragster 2.

In the Bad 8 Full Body final Billy Groton in a ’90 Camaro was matched against Paul Lake of Greenwood, Del. in his ’79 Chevy Monza. Groton had a .009 reaction and drove to the win with an 8.311/158.89 on an 8.29 dial. Lake ran an 8.968/147.56 on an 8.93.

In the Bad 8 Open Wheel final Bobby Insley was paired against Mike Jones of Salisbury. Jones had a -.001 red light foul at the start. Insley had a .008 reaction and made a full pass at 7.655/173.11 on a 7.64 dial for the win.

Ben Parks met Ricky Payne of Salisbury in the Super Pro final. Parks had the better reaction and drove to the win with an 8.159/160.17 on an 8.14 dial. Payne ran an 8.080/165.33 on an 8.05 dial.

Daryl Beauchamp went up against Tim Foskey, Jr. of Rhodesdale, Md. in the Pro final. Foskey left early and fouled and Beauchamp took the win with a 10.341/120.22 on a 10.33 dial.

Marquise Blake rode up against last week’s winner, Jimmie Miller of Gambrills, Md. in the Pro Bike final. Blake took the final with a 9.146/142.24 on a 9.12 dial. Miller was late off the line and broke out with a 9.488/146.05 on a 9.50 dial.

The Street Eliminator final paired Darin Doyle in his ’91 Dakota against the ’78 Ford Fairmont of Gary Stickles of Delmar, Md. Stickles had the better reaction but broke out with a 13.785/96.25 on a 13.80 dial. Doyle got the win with a 13.705/98.00 on a 13.54 dial.

Shawn Riley driving a Ford F-350 defeated Jesse Bowden of Nelsona, Va. in a pickup to win Hot Rod. Riley ran a 14.589/84.26 on a 14.40 dial. Bowden had a 16.391/84.44 on a 16.25 dial.

In Jr. Dragster action, Nicholas Bowie went up against Morgan Larkin of Salisbury in the Jr. Dragster 1 final. Bowie took the win with a 12.597/48.22 on a 12.40 dial while Larkin left early and fouled. In the Jr. Dragster 2 final it was Cortney Cathell facing Jacob Bowie of Greensboro, Md. Cathell ran a 7.944/80.61 on a 7.90 dial for the win while Bowie left too soon and fouled.

This Sunday will be another exciting Summit E.T. Racing Series event plus and Easter Celebration. Gates open at 10 a.m. with time runs at 11 a.m. and eliminations at approximately 2:30 p.m.
