Tyler Driever is a national caliber Outlaw Kart driver from Meridian, Idaho. At the age of 16, and in his fourth full season, Tyler has two 250 Track Championships. Both championships came in 2015 as well as a combined winter and summer overall Championship for 2015/2016. In 2016 he finished second overall at OMC in his first season racing in the Open 500 class. Tyler is the only Outlaw Kart racer from Idaho to make every single 250 "A" Main he has ever entered on a national land the only 250 racer from Idaho to make it to the "A" Main at the prestigious West Coat Nationals “A” featured, something that he has now accomplished twice. He was also the only racer in the 250 class at the 2016 Kyle Larson Showcase to finish inside the top 10 who was not from California, finishing 6th. In 2017 he was the only driver from Idaho to make the Open 500 “A” Main and the second youngest in the “A” Main at the Kyle Larson Outlaw Kart Showcase.
2017 was Tyler’s first full season racing on Asphalt in a US Legend car, with 2 top 5’s and multiple top 10’s and finishing 6th overall in the Domino’s Pizza Legends and 2nd in the Young Lions.
Fall of 2016 marked the start of a great relationship with his sponsor “Project Filter Idaho Fights Tobacco.” Project Filter is Idaho’s Tobacco Prevention and Control Program. Project Filter works to educate the public about the resources available to help individuals quit using tobacco. Tyler became the youngest sponsored athlete in the history of the program and is contracted through 2019 and beyond. Tyler is required to work events for Project Filter which have ranged in attendance from 1500 to 20,000 attendees teaching about the effects of tobacco and where to get help.
He made his Sprint Car debut at Cottage Grove Speedway during the Thunder Summer Sprint Car Series, scoring an 18th and 20th place finish for the 2 night show. Tyler has been invited to North Carolina’s Mill Bridge Speedway for the “Keith Kunz Give Back Classic” taking place on October 31st. For this race you have to be one of the top Open Outlaw Kart drivers in the nation and the winner receives a Midget Ride for the 2019 Chili Bowl in Tulsa, OK.
Career Highlights
2016 West Coast Nationals, 48 total karts. Started on pole in the “C” Main, lost his clutch, but was able to qualify for the “B” main, Started 16th in the “B” moved up to 5th to qualify for the “A”, started 15th in the “A” was running 7th and broke a motor mount and finished 14th.
2016 Kyle Larson Outlaw Kart Showcase, 39 total karts, qualified 9th and started 11th in the “A” Main. Moved up to 6th and finished there as the race was cut short due to a red flag. Was the only driver in the top 12 out of 24 in the “A” Main that did not call Cycle Land my home track.
2017 Kyle Larson Outlaw Kart Showcase, 120 Open 500’s , 6th quick, Started 18th in “B” Main only top 4 move to the “A” Main. Finished 3rd in the “B” by passing 11 karts with 5 laps to go. Only Idaho driver to make the “A” Main and second youngest. Unfortunately was caught up in a first lap crash ending his night and becoming only his 3rd DNF.
