‘Haud’ 8th at Knight Before The Kings Royal
PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to his favorite track over the weekend, The Eldora Speedway, for one of the biggest race weekends of the year, The Kings Royal, Jac Haudenschild and his Destiny Motorsports team had a mixed bag of results that was highlighted by an eighth place finish on Friday night.
Opening Kings Royal weekend up with the Knight Before the Royal on Friday night, Haudenschild timed the MonDak Portables/Benic Enterprises/Rick Rogers Construction No. 9w machine in 16th fastest.
By way of his time trial effort, ‘The Wild Child’ lined up on the pole of his heat race, and took advantage of the starting position as he powered his way to the victory, earning him a spot in the Dash.
Finishing in the 10th spot, the Wooster, OH driver lined up for the feature event in the fifth row, but did not stay back there for long as he put his right-rear tire on the wall and moved into the fifth spot in just two laps.
Taking advantage of a lap 16 restart, ‘The Wild Child’ made a very bold move to split two cars and take the second spot, however, the yellow flew just after, negating his pass.
When the action resumed, Haudenschild hung around the top five, as he battled with Kerry Madsen and Shane Stewart, as the trio jockeyed for the position.
Continuing to run the high, scary side, Haudenschild made late contact with the turn four wall, that caused to slow up for a split second, but in doing so lost a few spots, and slipped back to eighth at the finish line.
Saturday night during the Kings Royal, Haudenschild had issues in time trials relegating him to 40th fastest, putting him in a huge hole for the rest of the evening.
Finishing seventh in his heat, Haudenschild was forced to the C Main, which he won, putting him 20th in the B Main.
Giving it a valiant effort in the B, Haudenschild was able to pick up eight spots aboard the Renegade Rentals/Champion Oil/Triple X Racing Components machine, though it would not be enough to transfer to the A, ending his night.
Wednesday night at the Brad Doty Classic, Haudenschild timed in 20th fastest, before finishing fifth in his heat race, successfully putting him the feature event.
Lining up 18th in the feature event Haudenschild made light contact with the wall early in the race, and it resulted in the broken Jacob’s Ladder, but ‘The Wild Child’ stayed on the speedway.
With the car a bit of a handful with the damage to it, Haudenschild wrestled it around the speedway and ended up with a 17th place finish.
“We are in a bit of a funk, but we are working through it,” he said. “It’s tough, but nobody has given up yet, and hopefully we will snap out of this soon.”
