Busy Month Continues For Paul McMahan and Destiny Motorsports

(TGP)

PETERSEN MEDIA: After a busy week of racing in Ohio, the busy ‘Month of Money’ cruises on this week as Paul McMahan and Destiny Motorsports are slated for three races in Pennsylvania and one race in New York.

“We were just off all week it seemed like,” Paul McMahan. “We had a couple weeks of good finishes coming into a busy stretch and we were hoping it could continue, but it was a struggle at both Attica Raceway Park and Eldora Speedway.”

Timing the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/Champion Brands Lubricants No. 4 in sixth fastest in his qualifying flight on Tuesday night, McMahan would fight and engine stumble in his heat race and it would put him back to third where he finished.

Missing out on the Dash, McMahan and company would still make the feature event where they gridded the field from the 17th starting position.

Unable to get much going in the feature, McMahan would finish in the 20th position as the team then put their focus on the King’s Royal.

Thursday night’s Joker’s Wild race would get off to a slow start as a storm blew through the speedway. Waiting out the delay, McMahan would time the All Star Performance/KSE Racing Products/FK Indy machine in 11th fastest.

Going from sixth to fourth in his heat, the Nashville, TN driver would advance into the feature event where he would line up in the 13th starting position. On the fast Eldora Speedway, McMahan would move up inside the Top-10 in the early goings of the feature event. Tripping over the cushion and nearly getting over, McMahan would get gathered back up as he slipped back to finish 17th.

Friday night’s Knight Before the Royal event would see McMahan’s night get off to a bit of a tough start as he timed in 15th quickest during his qualifying flight, before finishing fifth in his heat race.

Lining up 12th in the semi, McMahan would pick up a couple of positions in the 12-lap affair, but an eighth place finish would not transfer the Destiny Motorsports entry into the feature event.

Opting to use a World of Outlaws provisional, McMahan would tag the back of the pack where he would start 26th and finish 22nd.

Looking to put together a good end to a trying week, McMahan would time in 10th fastest out of the 53 entrants checked in for the King’s Royal.

Finishing sixth in his heat race, McMahan would not make the direct transfer to the feature event and would be forced into the LCQ.

Based on his heat race finish, McMahan would grid the field from the 16th starting position and have his work cut out for himself if he wanted to earn one of the four transfer spots.

In the 12-lap race, McMahan would pick up five positions as he finished 11th, but would not make the King’s Royal feature event.

“It’s disappointing to not make features, especially at one of our biggest races of the year,” McMahan said. “We timed in well, and really needed to get out of our heat race, but it didn’t happen. It’s a very busy month with a lot of racing, so the best thing to do is get ready for Tuesday night at Lernerville, and move forward and be better. Thanks to Rick and Barb Rogers for standing behind us and supporting us.”

Destiny Motorsports would like to thank MonDak Portables, Ft. Union Supply and Trading, Champion Brand Lubricants, All Star Performance, KSE Racing Products, FK Indy, HRP, KPC, PPM Titanium, Chalk Stix, Wilwood, Keizer Wheels, Simpson, Petersen Media, My Race Pass, Speedway Engines, FK Rod Ends, Boss Signs and Graphics, Classic Ink, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Hoosier Tires North, and BulterBuilt for their continued support.

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-56, Wins-0, Top 5’s-3, Top 10’s-17.
