Mullens finishes 8th at Rocket Raceway Park
Tanner Mullens and 42 other Summit USMTS Modified competitors took on Petty, Texas’ Rocket Raceway Park on Friday as part of the 15th annual Texas Spring Nationals. The Wichita, Kansas, driver left the 3/8-mile oval with his third consecutive USMTS top-10 finish on the young season.
After starting his evening by setting the overall quick time in his qualifying group, Mullens won his heat race aboard his Mel Hambelton Ford No. 02 Modified. He started third in the 40-lap, $5,000-to-win feature and was running second at the halfway point. However, he hit the wall under the flag stand on lap 22 and was forced to stop. After restarting near the tail, he navigated through the field to finish eighth.
Mother Nature nixed Saturday’s $5,000-to-win USMTS program at the track.
Through three USMTS races in 2025, Mullens sits third in the point standings.
