Haiden Cowan races into Southern Showcase; Gavin Cowan makes debut with Rum Runner Racing
Haiden Cowan kicked off a busy weekend of racing for Cowan Brothers Racing on Friday night by competing with the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series at Swainsboro (Ga.) Raceway for the first night of the Southern Showcase.
Stopping the clock ninth-quickest in his group, Haiden grabbed the final transfer spot in his last chance qualifier which placed him on the 11th-row for the $5,000-to-win feature. Making up six spots in the 30-lap shootout, Haiden finished 15th.
Gavin opened up his weekend on Saturday with the Ultimate Super Late Model Series at Sumter (S.C) Speedway as he made his debut behind the wheel of the Rum Runner Racing No. 2 machine.
Laying down the third-quickest lap in qualifying, Gavin started the $5,000-to-win feature from the second-row and wound up just outside the Top-5 in sixth after 40-laps.
At Swainsboro on Saturday, Haiden put down a strong lap in qualifying but fell backwards two spots in his heat race. Rolling off 14th in the $20,000-to-win main event, Haiden gained one spot to finish 13th.
Wrapping up the weekend on Sunday, both Haiden and Gavin invaded Cochran (Ga.) Motor Speedway on Sunday for the $7,500-to-win Georgia Rumble.
Among 24 Southern All Star entries, the brothers recorded Top-10 finishes with Haiden finishing sixth and Gavin finishing ninth.
