Andrew Felker Scores First Victory of 2015 in POWRi West Action at Boyd Raceway!

Boyd, TX | July 1, 2015 – Following a week off after two very busy weeks of POWRi Speedweek and USAC Indiana Midget Week, Andrew Felker returned to the seat this weekend as he made his first appearance in the “Lone Star State” in 2015. Competing in the POWRi West “Texas Swing,” the Carl Junction, Missouri native would lead all 30 laps of the main event at Boyd Raceway and guide his Stanton SR11 Mopar powered BOSS Chassis No. 11A to win number one of the season.
“It felt good to finally put together a complete night and get the results to show it,” said Felker. “ The first half of the season we have had an extremely good car almost every night, but have had constant little issues. Hopefully we have gotten them behind us and can start making up for it in the point standings.”
Rolling out in the fourth spot for heat race action, Felker quickly charged to the front and picked up his 11th heat race win of the year. This strong drive would land the 22-year old on the front row of the main event and hand him his 17th start of the season.
Starting the 30-lap POWRi West feature from the outside pole, Felker immediately jumped to the lead and led the opening lap. Railing the high side of the Boyd, Texas ¼ mile, Felker ensued to continuously pull away in his Sixty-Six Truck & Foreign Salvage, MelMark Pipe & Supply, Auto Xpress No. 11A. A caution near the halfway point would provide the only stoppage of action, but could do nothing to slow Felker down as he went on to lead every single lap en route to his first victory of 2015.
The triumph not only marked his first of the year, but third consecutive POWRi West victory in as many tries as three different tracks. On tap next for the Missourian will be a thrilling tripleheader of POWRi and USAC action. Friday and Saturday night will see “Bad Fast” Felker head to Macon Speedway for the POWRi National “Freedom Fest,” while Sunday night has the No. 11A doing battle in the POWRi, USAC co-sanctioned “Pepsi Nationals” at Angell Park Speedway.
