Dover Earns Top Five During Huset’s Speedway Season Opener
Inside Line Promotions – BRANDON, S.D. (May 13, 2025) – Jack Dover highlighted a two-race weekend with a top-five run on Sunday during the Huset’s Speedway season opener.
The Tim Estenson Motorsports driver qualified fourth quickest in his group before he won a heat race to garner enough overall points to move into the feature redraw. Dover pulled the No. 2 to line up on the outside of the front row in the A Main.
“I really like the new format and feel that’s the best format out there,” he said. “When I saw the group that we were in I knew it was some of the toughest guys we’d be racing with all night. I was happy with qualifying inside the invert and that put us on the pole of a heat race. We kept tuning on the car and getting more comfortable. We won the heat and had a good redraw.”
Dover made a bid for the lead at the second attempt to start the main event, darting to the bottom in turns one and two. That cost him a position to the favored high lane and he briefly fell outside of the top five midway through the race before rebounding for a fifth-place finish.
“They reworked the track before the feature and I misread it,” he said. “I thought it’d be heavy and two or three laps in it blew off. I was too free. When the rubber came in we were pretty good and right there in the top five. When you roll into somewhere you have goals. A top five was my goal so I’m glad we were able to accomplish it.”
Dover is currently second in the Huset’s Speedway championship standings – only one point out of the lead.
The weekend began on Friday at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., where Dover was 14th quickest in his group. He placed seventh in a heat race and 12th in the B Main during the Kubota High Limit Racing event.
“We’re racing against the best in the country and it was a real test,” he said. “We struggled in the beginning of the night, but it seemed every time we hit the track we got better. Something broke in the B Main so that hampered us.”
Dover plans to head to Wisconsin and South Dakota this weekend. He is tackling Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series races on Friday at Dodge County Fairgrounds in Beaver Dam and Saturday at Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth before returning to Huset’s Speedway on Sunday. The two Wisconsin races will mark his debut at each track.
“I’ve been saying it’ll take a month to get back into my rhythm and up to speed so a chance to race three times in a weekend is exciting,” he said. “Plus, I’m looking forward to going to two new tracks and I’ve really grown to love racing in Wisconsin.”
