BRISBANE, Australia – Getting back to action at Archerfield Speedway for the second and final time before he flies home to Bellevue, Ohio for the holidays, Cap Henry once again took control of the Toowoomba Car Wreckers #USA23 on Saturday night, looking to improve on his sixth-place showing two weeks ago.

The night started off less than ideal, however, as Henry was set to go out in the first of six groups for qualifying, when the track was still greasy in spots. Though he timed third-quick in his session with a time of 13.009 seconds on the Brisbane, Queensland quarter-mile oval, he would fall down the charts as each session got progressively faster, settling in at 17th-fastest when all 27 cars had timed in, with four of the five fastest cars coming from the final session.

With the qualifying laps inverting the fields for heat race action, Henry gridded third in heat number two of three, nabbing the lead on lap six of ten, and taking the win by a 1.6 second margin. For the second set of heat races, the Maxim/Inglis machine would move over to the outside of row two in the starting lineup, again in the second of three races, and pick up two spots to get to second by the completion of lap four, but the leader had already set sail and was out of reach.

After 17th-quick in qualifying, Henry managed to battle his way back to eighth in points in preliminary action, meaning he would miss the six-car dash, but he’d start outside of the fourth row for the 30-lap main event. In a race that would run wire-to-wire with no cautions, the top-three quickly checked out in the early going, with Henry slowly but surely working his way forward, getting faster in the closing laps while others were starting to fall off, and bringing home his first career top-five at Archerfield.

Henry would like to thank Toowoomba Car Wreckers, Snap-On Tools, JCW Towing, Linear Graphics, S&S Genrich, Wilko’s, Downs Mini Digs, Tony Stewart Racing, Simpson Race Products, FK Rod Ends, Wings Unlimited, K&N Filters, and Keizer Wheels, as well as his family and crew for their continued support.

As of now, Henry’s 2014 schedule is complete, but he is currently seeking a midget or micro sprint ride for the Rumble in Fort Wayne event at Fort Wayne, Indiana’s Allen County War Memorial Coliseum on December 26-28. If you are interested in Henry driving your car at the event, please contact Henry or Redbeard Promotions at any time.
