Driver Information

My name is Shawn, aka "Drillbit" and I drive the #6 Virginia Racer/Limited Late Model. Originally from Leander, Texas; I became involved in asphalt racing as a freshman in high school working on race cars for TBS Racing at Thunderhill Raceway (now closed) in 2004. After high school, I joined the US Navy as a Nuclear Reactor Operator (ETN) and served for 14 years. Following my transfer to Hampton Roads in 2009, I was able to track down the closest racetrack (Larry King Law's Langley Speedway) and re-ignite my passion for racing. I purchased my 1st car prior to deployment in 2011 and was able to complete 1 race prior to departure. Following deployment, I was able to race my 1st full season in Grandstock at Langley Speedway in 2012, earning the title of Rookie of the Year. Following a crash in 2017 at Southern National Motorsports Park in Kenly, North Carolina I took some time away from the driver's seat to take care of some family needs and begin my new career in the civilian world. Now, in 2023, I have moved up in classes to the growing class of Virgina Racer and look forward to what the future has to offer with such a strong class, only in it's 2nd season at Langley. We do have some plans to travel to other tracks such as Dominion Raceway and possibly back to Southern National as the year progresses.

2012 - Langley Speedway Grandstock Rookie of the Year

My first Grandstock win on May 15th, 2015. Running 4rd with a green, white checker. The leaders tangled coming to the checkers and spun to the inside. Due to our decision to take the cone on the restart, we were able to clear the spin and take the victory.
