Brandon Hahn Goes Through a Long Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Weekend

Inside Line Promotions – JACKSON, Minn. (Sept. 2, 2013) – To say that last weekend was a long one for Brandon Hahn is an understatement.

First, the team had to haul approximately 11 hours to Jackson Speedway for the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour 35th annual Jackson Nationals on Friday and Saturday.

Then, about five miles from the track, a tire blew out on the race trailer, which set the tone for a frustrating weekend for Hahn.

“It was just a bad, bad weekend,” he said. “It was locked down, heavy both nights. The one weekend we draw good, on the pole for both heat races, we have problems.”

It started on Friday with Hahn leading the first half of his heat race before his car dramatically slowed exiting turn four.

“We had a freak accident,” he said. “Jason (Johnson) and a couple of the other National guys have a similar setup. Our switch and box are dzussed into the dash. The dzus fell out of that and it shut the car off. How bad of luck is that? A dzus makes you lose a race.”

Hahn was credited with a last-place finish and was set to start near the back of a B Main, which he was forced to scratch from after finding a mechanical issue.

“When we came in we found that we had a bad oil leak,” he said. “Come to find out our pan was leaking on our motor, so we couldn’t get back out there for the B Main.”

Saturday started off a bit better as Hahn once again started on the pole of his heat race.

“I just didn’t get a very good start,” he said. “I was running second for about five laps and Tony Bruce Jr. got by us.”

Hahn placed third in his heat race, which earned him enough points to start on the pole of a B Main, which transferred the top-three finishers to the feature.

“Our car was good,” he said. “I couldn’t roll the bottom as good as I wanted to. We were a little free on exit. We held on for the transfer. Then here comes some more bad luck for the feature. We had a fuel leak from our tank and couldn’t get it fixed. We had to call it a night. We just could not catch a break all weekend. At least our car is in one piece.”

After finishing third in his B Main to transfer to the feature, Hahn had to pull in early in the main event because of the fuel problem and was credited with a 24th-place result.

He is planning on taking this weekend off with possible regional action the following weekend before the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour schedule resumes Saturday, Sept. 21, at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas.

“I think we’re going to take a weekend off and get a motor back from our engine shop so we’ll have a spare,” he said.
