Brandon Hahn Nets Top-10 Finish With NCRA at 81 Speedway
Inside Line Promotions – PARK CITY, Kan. (Oct. 9, 2013) – Brandon Hahn is 2-for-2 with top 10s at 81 Speedway this season.
After a frustrating start on Saturday, Hahn rebounded to score his third top-10 finish of the season during the NCRA event at the 3/8-mile oval.
He opened the night by advancing from sixth to third place in his heat race, which favored the inside lane.
“It rained the night before and it was so locked down on the bottom,” he said. “(81 Speedway) is not usually like that. I was faster than the car in front of me, but he was running a safe line and I couldn’t find anywhere around him because there was not much passing.”
The feature was lined up heads-up based on points from the heat races, starting Hahn on the inside of the third row. However, as much as the preferred line was the bottom in the heat races, it shifted to the top for the main event.
“We had a super, fast car,” he said. “On the start I got trapped on the bottom for a good three or four laps. I had some cars go by me on the top. When I finally got to the top and got my rhythm going we got a couple of cars. We could never really make up that ground again. The track did go back to (81 Speedway) fashion and had a big cushion. You just blasted it in there and hoped it stuck. We were the same speed as everybody else.”
After losing several positions at the start, Hahn rebounded to place 10th.
“I don’t think we had a 10th-place car,” he said. “We had a top-five car all night, but I’ll take what I can get and we’ll go get them next weekend.”
Depending on the weather this Saturday, Hahn is planning on heading to Timberline Speedway in Corley, Texas, or Poplar Bluff Speedway in Poplar Bluff, Mo., with the USCS.
