Driver Information

I was born and raised in Richmond, VA. I have been fascinated with big trucks since I was 9 yrs. old and laid eyes on Grave Digger for the first time. I started out four wheeling on powerlines with my cousin and his buddies in Roanoke Rapids, NC when I was in my late teens. Then I bought a Polaris 2-stroke 400 and rode everywhere. I owned multiple lifted trucks. I had been hearing about an event for a long time and finally went to Pantego, NC for their 4th of July mud bog in 1999. That is where I got my first taste of what would inevitably be my future passion. I had a nice 1996 Ford F-250 regular cab truck that I was driving daily when my wife and I decided a crew cab would better suit a growing family so, I sold the single cab to my brother-in-law. Three years later he wanted another one of my trucks and offered me that very nice 1996 truck back as part of the deal. I didn't really need a single cab so I told my wife that I was turning it into a mud bog truck. She said I was crazy and it was too pretty, so a mud bog truck it was!! It had a stock motor, 351 Windsor, with E40D automatic transmission, 39.5 boggers - it was as heavy as it gets. My first mud bog was in Dinwiddie at VA Motorsports Park. Got stuck a lot but learned from it. Blew the stock setup up at Watkins Dairy Farm and moved up to a pretty much stock 460 big block and a C6 transmission and started not getting stuck as often. Bought a set of 44-inch tires and it became Southern Thunder mud truck. After years of driving, fixing, and learning the truck, I decided to step up to the new mega truck racing. Dennis Anderson helped me along with my wife Susan to make it happen. Ace In the Hole came out in 2018 and is still going today. Now my two youngest sons have the old Southern Thunder name. My youngest son, Ace just won the Kings of Superstreet series points championship in 2023. So, to say I'm proud is an understatement. Looking forward to what the future of Ace In the Hole racing has in store. This is my first year in the Premier Mega Truck Series even though I have been racing with some of the guys for some time, I still look forward to the competition and racing in the mud. This sport is growing and I hope more people get involved to “Make Mud Racing Great Agai
