Scott Krueger -

I first started racing in the Gadget Sprints in late Nov of 2010. Gadgets are made of Honda Pilots/Odessey's with Artic cat 700cc motor. Gadgets are currently based in the Tampa area and since then, I have moved up to Ocala Micro Speedway (aka the Bullring). There are a great bunch of guys in this particular group. They got me pointed in the right direction as I wanted to start racing. I bought the 5 car and hopped right in hoping to win at least one race before the season ended. In my short stint career with the Gadgets, I finished 3rd three times, and many times in the top 5. It was a great stepping stone to get my career going and I then decided to move up to the Lightning Sprints in Feb at the Winternationals. I saw how fast those cars went on the short 1/4 mile clay track and I was hooked once again. I asked the promoter, Wayne Davis if he knew of any car for sale. I didnt have to test drive anything, my heart felt it right then and there. I want to race with these guys. Two cars were available at the time. One of Mike Whitmore's number 5 car, and that of Todd Lehr's 83. I liked the scheme of the 5 and the number of course as I drive the 5 in the Gadgets. But they (Mike) said they sold the 5 and Todd came over and showed me everything he had to go with this car. I asked Wayne to look it over and said that is what the series will evently go to is the upright lightning sprint. So I bought it. I came the next day with just my helmet to make sure I would like it, and then Todd Lehr took his name off the register to race that day and put mine in his place. He told me that he would not drive it since I just bought it. I was nervous, who wouldnt be. I buckled in, and was giving some final instructions, and my heart was beating faster as I cranked the engine over. It purrre'd like a kitten. 1000cc's in front of me waiting to hit the track. I started out in the back of the pack until I got used to it. I believe I finished 12 out of 30 something cars. Wow, that was cool...

Wayne then came over to me, and said that I did well for the first time and gladly took my under his wing and into the series. I then bought a trailer and the usual stuff that needs to keep the cars going. Everytime I get in the car, my heart beats fast, but not as bad now. This is my first full season in the 1000cc. The season is over and I placed 4th out of 31 in the standings. Not bad for a rookie.

The Southern States Lightning Series is comprised of 750cc and 1000cc non wing sprints.

My Zx-12 1200 alcohol car is: Xpress Graphixx/HMS Racing . For those who dont know, HMS stands for Hollywood Motor Sports. I got the nickname from Chip "Tater" Allision from the Gadget Racing group. I always wear my hat with sunglasses and look like hollywood, he claims. I did double duty for awhile between the gadgets and lightning sprint. It slowly took a toll on me. Jumping from one car to another without any rest in between. It also could get frustrating in cases where one car would not produce the power or be in a crash. I decided in mid stream to keep the 5 car, but concentrate on the bigger prize. I still own the 5 car and since then purchased a Winged Sprint that is a Hyper Chasiss with a gsxr 750cc. I race the Xpress Graphixx RacinNation Hyper all over Florida and sometimes in Ga. FMSA(Florida Mini Sprints Association) races mostly at these tracks, North Florida, Eastbay, Hendry County, Dublin 441, Ogelthorpe, MCS, BRP, and soon at Putnam. Since moving over to the FMSA series, I have owned a hyper and now running a XXX chasis. XXX is easier to work on, and less forgiving on the set up. You will find the XXX HMS at a track near you soon. Look for the bright neon orange 81.
