Winternationals at Bubbas Raceway Park. FEb 9-11 2012,
FMSA hits the track with USAC drivers at Bubbas for speedweeks. 22 FMSA cars showed up to compete for a purse of 500.00 on Thursday and Friday, with a winning purse of 1000.00 on Saturday. On thursday, I went out for hotlaps and found out the car was not working well. Made some changes hoping to loosen the car up a bit. Heat came around only to find myself finishing 6th. Feature time found me sitting outside on row 5. Green flag flew and off we went. Trying to keep all the rubber down on the track. That didnt happen. With only two laps left, turn two I was squeezed down to the inside track and did a 360 spin and landed on the left side. Red flag wavied. After I was put back on all fours, I drove off. Green flag waived again, only to find the car handling bad. Mud was packed in the right rear tire giving the car vibrations. I pulled in the pits and called it a night.
Friday nite came quick. We did hotlaps and ready for heat racing. Wow, after our heat race, the rain came. USAC officals called the nite. Resume racing on Saturday nite.
Saturday nite came and I was ready. Heat racing began. I found myself just a tick tight, but managed. Feature was upon us, and found the 81 car sitting outside 6th row. Its showtime. 20 laps to the finish. Lets do this. Car was working much better, I got some confidence back in the car, and I ended up 8th this night. Not bad. I will settle for this. See you all next week at Marion County Speedway with the new 81 1200cc car. Two night there for non wing action. Be safe.
