Inside Line Promotions – KUNKLETOWN, Pa. (June 23, 2016) – A new car has led to a new attitude for Ryan Smith. And it all comes together at a very crucial time for the “Kunkletown Kid.”
Smith is ready to embark on the grueling Pennsylvania Speedweek, which features nine nights of racing in 10 days starting this weekend.
“We’ve put together a new car and I’m excited to see what it can do,” he said. “I took last weekend off and was a crew chief for another driver. It benefitted me greatly. I got to watch and see what goes on. I learned I need to be way more aggressive.
“We had originally planned on doing the first part of Ohio Speedweek. I’m really bummed we didn’t get to do that, but we needed to regroup and put this new car together. I’m really confident we will be a force to be reckoned with this Pennsylvania Speedweek.”
Of the tracks involved in the Pennsylvania Speedweek, Smith is really excited for the Sunday’s event at Path Valley Speedway in Spring Run.
“It’s a cool bullring like the Ohio tracks I got to experience with the All Stars,” he said. “It gets wide and slippery. It’s a lot of fun.”
The grueling Speedweek schedule tests both man and machine, which is something Smith really likes.
“I have some great guys on my team,” he said. “This tests all of us … the endurance, the work, it’s so unique.”
It all begins Friday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg. Smith will also compete on Saturday at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown prior to Sunday’s event at Path Valley Speedway.
“Best sprint car drivers and teams in the world,” he said. “I love the challenge.”
