It was the final day of the regular season campaign at “the World’s Home of the Figure 8” ®. The Last Chance Wrecker Hoosier Bandoleros ended their yearlong journey towards a championship at the Indianapolis Speedrome. The 600 Racing creations had a gaggle of “Show Me” state drivers challenging the hometown top dog for title honors all year long. In the end, it was Wildwood, Missouri’s Kevin Donahue winning the overall championship as well as taking top ranking in the Young Gun division.
The Donahue Family racing trio (Kevin, Angela, and Kyle) made the trip down Interstate 70 nearly every week to their racing home, the Indianapolis Speedrome. Oldest son Kevin used his Karting experience in this Bandolero campaign, but it was sister Angela and Indy’s Jack Dossey III in his way to the top of the point standings. He won the feature on June 27th and moved to first place a few weeks later. He had eleven top five and sixteen top ten finishes during the season. The Donahue’s were fun to watch as they battled each other and the competition on Friday nights. Congratulations to the 2008 Indianapolis Speedrome Bandolero and Young Gun Champion Kevin Donahue.
The Farm Bureau Building at the Indiana State Fairgrounds will host the 2008 awards banquet. It is the place for fans, drivers, teams, sponsors, and track employees to come together for a celebration of this exciting year of racing at the Speedrome.
