Kevin Donahue
Late Model Racing Rocks
Kevin Donahue ran his first Pro Late Model race at Montgomery Speedway in Alabama. The 100 lap race was more of a test for Kevin but he did finish 9th after starting 15th. Kevin had some basic goals per his crew chief, Gene Roberts of AROB Performance. Gene told Kevin to do three things:
- Bring the car home with 4 corners.
- Try to run all 100 laps.
- Get familiar with starts and restarts in a Late Model Race.
"Check-list completed" said Gene Roberts. Gene and Kevin's father Jim were more than pleased with Kevin's performance. A ton of pressure on a 17 year old kid and with only one other practice session it was like a baptism with fire. Kevin kept his cool despite the fact that the in car temperature was as hot as an oven.
Kevin will test this week at Cordele and then race at OPP after finishing the second round at the Summer Shootout in Charlotte.
Special thanks to Gene Roberts as Kevin’s Crew Chief, Pat Sellers for his excellent job at Spotting and also Alex Roberts and David for their help in making this happen. Thank you also goes out to Daryn Weatherman for the use of his hauler.
