2013 was a great year for racing
The 2013 race year started out like any other year but then I decided I needed to make a change. Over time I started working with various teams and doing less and less myself. I realized that I was approaching the sport with the wrong attitude and reasons. I missed working on the cars in the shop with my kids and trying new setups and adjustments. After all, that is why I got into the sport in the first place.
Even though my Dad died when I was 12 I still picked up the skills of wrenching on anything and love it. Now that my kids have grown I get to enjoy working with them on the cars. Even though I don’t get my hands dirty for a living I still love the shop time when we do get our hands dirty.
2013 was a blast and Kevin and Kyle both won their Championships for Pro Legends and Young Lions Legends. Even though they were in different classes they still got to race against each other throughout the season. Angela showed that she still has it and jumped back into a Legend for a race at Sportsdrome and did great.
In closing, we had a great year, we raced as much as I could afford in both time and money. We focused on fun and not winning and in turn we won more often, go figure. 2014 is fast approaching and I need to start planning the season. We definitely want to still do Legend racing but also need and want to get back to Late Models. I need to find a sponsor that wants to have two cars wrapped with their corporate theme and see two brothers duel on the track. That would make for another fun season.
This may be my last post until next year so Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Donahue Motorsport’s Team to all of our friends and family in racing.
