Hoover tests spec late model at Irwindale
On Track Inc - CORONA, Calif. (August 12th, 2014) Talented sprint car rookie Corey Hoover out of Corona, CA recently took part in an asphalt late model test session at Irwindale Speedway. Hoover got the call on a Friday afternoon from Mark Cansdale and jumped at the opportunity to make some laps. After getting familiar with the car in the first session, Corey was quickly up to speed and put down some very quick lap times.
High Point Racing team owner Tim Huddleston was Hoover's spotter for the night and was instrumental in the successful test session. "I can't thank Mark and Tim enough for this opportunity" said an elated Hoover, "Tim was very helpful on the radio all night and I look forward to racing with this group next year".
Hoover will finish out the season with the California Lightning Sprints and will also race in two Southwest Tour races later this year. He currently sits 4th in overall CLS championship points and leads the ultra-competitive "Rookie of the Year" standings in his first year of sprint car competition. The 16 year old from Corona, CA will be moving to the Spears Southwest Tour full time in 2015 and will also run a handful of races in a 360 sprint car.
