Sanders Lands Sixth Place Finish in Spring Shootout Opener at Fountain City
On Friday night Rodney Sanders visited Mississippi Thunder Speedway (Fountain City, Wisc.) pulling double duty in the Modified and Late Model ranks for the Spring Shootout. In a field of 38 United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) entries, Rodney jumped up five spots in his heat to register a fourth place finish. Earning the 11th-starting position for the opening night feature, Sanders passed five cars to place sixth.
During the same night in the Late Model ranks for the DiscountShopTowels.com Dirt Kings Tour sanctioned Rumble by the River 40, Sanders edged his spot into the $3,000-to-win A-Main with a fifth place finish in his heat. Rolling off 16th, Rodney was one of several cars that failed to complete all 40-laps of the feature.
Saturday night’s finale and Monday’s event at Park Jefferson International Speedway (North Sioux City, S.D.) was washed away by Mother Nature.
Rodney remains leading the latest USMTS National Championship point standings. For more results from the event, please visit www.USMTS.com and www.MississippiThunder.com.
