Buzzy Adams Wins First Night Out at East Bay Raceway Park
Kicking off the 2016 season, Buzzy Adams headed south for the seven-day Sunshine State Modified Tour (SSMT) starting off at East Bay Raceway Park (Gibsonton, Florida) on Friday night. Drawing fifty-five cars for the opening night event, Adams cruised to heat race win sending him into the A-Main with a front row starting spot. Battling for the $1,500 payday, Buzzy held on to his pole position starting spot for all 40-laps scoring his first victory of the season with Mavrick Varnadore, David Reutimann, Steve Miller, and Jeff Matthews rounding out the top five. Competing in the second night of action in the Sunshine State Modified Tour (SSMT), Buzzy scored a runner-up finish in his heat behind Tait Davenport transferring him into the A-Main. Battling in the 2nd position for the first 14 laps, Adams ran too low in turn one on the next lap sending him around and to the tail. With 60-laps remaining, Buzzy Adams settled with a 24th place finish.
On Sunday night, in a field of forty-three Open Wheel Modifieds, Buzzy did not finish his heat race due to contact with the wall, and was sent to one of the night's b-mains. Just as the b-main was about to roll onto the track, Buzzy and his crew made repairs and were able to start in their 11th starting position. Kevin raced his way up to a second place finish, qualifying for the night's $1,500 to win main event. Kevin then raced his way from the 20th starting spot up to 15th at the checkered after a wild main event.
