Ricky Weiss
Second-place finish in Lil' Bill Corum Memorial at Tazewell
Ricky Weiss was back behind the wheel his Sniper Chassis No. 7 Late Model on Thursday evening at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tenn.) for the inaugural Kyle Larson Presents Late Model Challenge powered by Tezos event. In a stout field of 42 cars, Weiss timed in fourth-fastest in his group before placing second in his heat. Starting the $20,000-to-win A-Main in seventh, Ricky was ran over by another competitor early that forced him to retire on lap 17 with a damaged nose. (Jacy Norgaard photos)
The following night, Weiss entered Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals action at Wythe Raceway (Rural Retreat, Va.) but was hampered by bad luck again in the feature. After securing his spot in the main event with a third-place finish in his heat, Ricky was the first retiree of the race on the 11th circuit.
On Saturday evening at Tazewell Speedway (Tazewell, Tenn.) for the event co-sanctioned by the Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals and the Valvoline Iron-Man Southern Series, Ricky’s 10-lap heat race victory positioned him fourth on the starting grid for the $21,000-to-win Lil’ Bill Corum Memorial. Clawing forward two spots in the 60-lap affair, Weiss notched a second-place finish, which came behind race-long pacesetter Chris Madden.
